I watched this show a while back, when it first came out. I remember most of it, but details escape me. I'm gonna have to watch it again now!

Damn ok that was dope! As a gamer I'm more familiar with this type of animation but still it looks stunning. But honestly I was hooked by the scoring and sound design alone before we even knew anything about the story really. Have you ever noticed if the scoring and sound design is awesome the story is gonna be at least great but it doesn't work the other way around I've seen truly great stories with dogshit scoring/sound. xD Ok so let's start off with a weird one. Anyone know the Youtube Channel Technology Connections? The host/owner Alec reminds me so much of the larger guy with the googles that I can't unsee it now lol...or rather the big guy from the show reminds me of Alec...in every scene he was in I had to shout at the inside of my head "Shut up yes I know he reminds me of Alec, watch the fucking show" 🤣 I have played League but I know nothing about any lore....there were 3-4 "Oh" moments in this episode with something I recognized or whatever but that's about it..oh well and one slightly bigger thing but I'm not gonna mention it because I wish I didn't know it either, still even so I have no idea where this is going which is great, I think you're probably right that "Powder" is going to tinker with those crystals and if I had to guess she's going to get, what was it "Little Man" or something? involved because he also seems to be a big time tinkerer. And let me just say I'm so stoked the episodes are so long you can really get into it at that length I always feel like I need a good like 4-7 minutes to even fully immerse myself into the show/world and if the episode is only like 19 minutes long if you subtract the intro and credits then I spend like a third of the time still settling into the groove...of course if you're watching multiple episodes that's a different thing...but yeah anyways you get it "long episodes good for immersion, my brain like." *in dumb ogre voice* 😁 Edit: Oh thank god I thought my post was gone...anyways where was I... Oh yeah what's with the Enforcers gas masks, are they like "smell masks" because they're too rich and good to breathe the air of the undercity? 😁 Or is there anything else going on that I didn't pick up on. Also I loooove this like vibrant pastel color palette my soul just drinks it in not sure how else to say it lol. My surgery went fine, I've had some complications afterwards that I'm fighting with and it's gonna be 3-6 months till I'm where I want to be but hey sometimes shit just sucks 🤣 But I'm so glad I was at least able to come back in time for Arcane it would have been such a bummer to miss it! Oh and happy new year and stuff, how rude of me....I'm still thinking of the musical score I was all distracted and stuff. 🥰 CAN NOT WAIT for the next one...I've got a feeling I'm gonna be bawling by episode 3 or 4 but hey I'm here for it!

I was actually really bummed that Harley Quinn didn't make the list, but I've never watched Arcane and have heard great things about it, so this is my first time watching it as well and I absolutely love it so far. So that makes everything right as rain. Harley Quinn can come later. Also...am I hallucinating (again) or is that a Pickle Rick plush in the background?

OKAY YEAH, WOW, that was f**king awesome!!!😭🌟🎉 I don’t even know where to start mate, I just have this desire to list every single aspect of the show individually to convey how insanely well-done everything is!😅 I mean, for starters it was STUNNING!! The COLOURS, especially in that cold opener, I was just glued to the screen😍 You mentioned the sound design was really great here too, I don’t usually watch these reactions with headphones because I’m using two devices at the same time but I think I’m gonna go back and rewatch this episode straight away with headphones for the FULL EXPERIENCE! Even just the contrast between that bright, pristine daylight of the topside and the dim, unnatural lighting of the lower levels was so good! I also absolutely agree with your spider verse comparison, it has this really nice, smooth, fluid feel to the movement! The choice of close up angles from certain perspectives, like the plank of wood, made all the combat so engaging and interesting! Saying that, all the shot choices on here were like movie quality! I especially loved those high-up wide angles they kept doing, shooting down on an axis, I remember they did it in the streets one time and also with that one shot of Powder searching the room she was gonna steal from, so awesome🔥 I too really loved the choice of showing that brawl through the eyes of Powder to show how that stuff really effects her! Echoing what you were saying in your review, the establishing of each character and how they fit into each other’s lives was so great, I feel like I fully understand all these people and care about a lot of them too! Not only that but they established character flaws for each person to work on , Vi needs to hone in on her leadership skills and the power that comes with that, Powder needs to build her strengths, maybe not fighting but definitely creating those little thingemabobs!

The decision to open with the two “sisters”?? (I can’t remember if they actually said they were siblings) facing “ground zero” for their shared trauma in this really beautiful, well orchestrated scene was perfection!! It just connected them both instantly, set a real tone for the show and also greatly impacted every scene the two shared together in present day, it’s crazy how a little bit of context can go a long way. I loved how the group’s actions of stealing from that place, and subsequently blowing it up, really informed as to the dynamics between the upper and the lower levels!! It seemed that it didn’t really matter to the enforcers who actually committed the crime, as long as someone from the lower levels is made an example of! It makes me wonder how long exactly this physical segregation has been around. The younger cop seemed like he wasn’t interested in gaining information or doing his job, just throwing his weight around! Whereas the older enforcer had much more respect for the people down below, even self awareness of how messy the system she works in is! Makes me wonder if they all lived as one at one time, but the rich just kept building up and left all the poor behind? Idk, it’s really fantastic world building though! The masks too were strange, very awesome looking but strange. I hope it’s not just that they don’t wanna breathe the same air as these people because that’s messed up💀 The Blimps too were really cool, reminded me of a game called Bioshock!

Yeah, this was so freaking great and just technically on a whole other level! I LOVED IT, and I can’t wait for more! Favourite characters would probably be Powder so far, I just really feel for her and want her to succeed or prove herself in this group if that’s what she really wants! Question for you my friend, if you had to chose blue or pink hair for the rest of your life which would you choose? You can do whatever you want to your hair it just has to stay that same colour forever! If that question sounds random I was just watching this and had the thought “which of the siblings hair colour would suit me better” and the rest is history🤣 I prefer pink as a colour but I guess blue would probably look better on me, I think you’d rock both with equal amounts of style and grace honestly! I really needed this today, just a super cool brand new show and an extra long reactionnn, I couldn’t be happier rn!:D Thanks so much mate, see you in the next one✨✌️

This show truly is a masterpiece. I feel the same way, I never seen such combination of perfection, from the animation to the sound design, the voice acting and trust the story is also gonna build up to perfection. 🤌 "Maravilloso!!". Your right i do see the similarities with Into the Spider Verse. I think that movie was alot more trippy but I know what you mean. but I do feel that Arcane takes it a step further because they focus on the smallest of details. I can't wait to see the rest of your reactions. I just know its gonna blow your mind.

Oh my gosh, yes great point- it does look more like a video game than a TV show. I really love seeing that style come to life like this! I’ve never payed much attention to your sound/scoring theory but now I’m going to put it to the test with every show 🤣 I’d never seen Technology Connections but I just looked it up and omg you’re absolutely right- the host totally resembles Clagger! It’s crazy when that happens in a show or without someone you meet IRL. Once they remind you of someone else it just can’t be unseen lol It’s so cool to hear from someone who has played LoL and to know that I’m not missing out on anything from not having played it. In fact it sounds like maybe the opposite?? I totally agree that the longer episodes are great! I feel the same way- it takes me a second to get immersed. With certain genres, especially comedy, I don’t feel that way as much. Like with Solar Opposites (unless it’s a wall episode), 20-some minutes hits the spot. But with a show like THIS or The Owl House, I love the long- from episodes. My ogre-brain agrees 🤣 I assumed the enforcer’s masks had something to do with the air quality? Preventing breathing in pollution? But I could also see the Undercity being a bit smelly 😅 I’ve been thinking of you with your surgery! I was so happy to see your comment and hoped that meant everything went well.. I’m sorry to hear about the complications :( I and everyone in the dweebdom, I’m sure, are sending you wishes for a speedy recovery ❤️ A very happy new year to you too! Hahaha your feelings about the show are so similar to mine! I had to actively keep myself from saying “OMG THIS SHOW” at every turn because there was just so much to admire 😍 I totally recommend watching it again with headphones and I am going to watch it again on my television! I forget which patron mentioned to me that I would appreciate the animation that much more on a big screen, but I’m going to heed their advice because there’s no doubt it’s true! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was reminded of Into The Spiderverse :D Elisa mentioned it reminded her of a video-game which I thought was another good comparison. And oh my gosh YES! The cinematography was something I forgot to mention in my review but I was floored by how brilliant it was. It’s interesting hearing you say that Vi needs to work on her leadership skills. When I first watched the episode I was just so enamored by her bad-assery that I think I overlooked some of her rougher edges. But taking a look at her character again, you’re absolutely right. She could be much more diplomatic in the way she handles things, especially with Miles.

Ugh, yes the open made the rest of the episode that much more engaging. You’re already rooting for these kids before the modern- day story even begins. I’d be verrrry curious to know if perhaps the female enforcer and Vander knew each other in whatever before- world they lived in. Perhaps they were even friends? Because yeah, whatever respect is there from her side is definitely not there with the younger male enforcer lol. Elisa and I were also talking about the masks. I immediately assumed it had something to do with air quality and pollution but honestly I wouldn’t put it passed them to just feel they’re too good to breathe their air.

Okay I absolutely love this question and it’s PINK for me! All the way! :D I have actually wanted to die it pink for a long time but my airline (in fact, all airlines I think?) have a rule that your hair can only be “natural” colors. I could see that changing in the next 5-10 years or so as younger CEO’s come into the position. But some of the airline rules are still pretty old school 😅 See you in the next one, friend! (Sorry if you've mentioned this before, it's hard to keep track sometimes >.<) I am just blown away by the quality of it, and have a feeling it's only going to get better, like you said! I totally forgot to mention the voice acting in my review but YES! All of the voice actors are perfect for their roles and so, so believable in their delivery.

You should invest in a cheap audio mixer to take in multiple inputs to one output. Sounds like it would really improve your viewing experience, have one myself and it has separate volume control for all inputs so easy to get a good volume balance too

I had to join the Patreon for this one. This show just grabbed me in a way no other show has and even after a year I'm still excited to watch it and see others reactions. There is a organic artistry to the animation that just brings the world and characters to life in a very real way while still keeping the stylized fantasy look. Can't wait for all future episodes, you have such a joyful but relaxing vibe in your reactions it really is a pleasure to see.

I love when a show hits you like that :D We’re months out since the last episode of The Owl House and my social feed is still almost entire fan art and lore posts 🤣💕 I have no doubt I’ll do an online deep dive once I’ve finished with Arcane, too. I absolutely agree that the animation is something to behold. I am just in awe of the characters and story they’ve created in JUST ONE EPISODE!!!

I am so thankful. (But of course there’s never any pressure to stay!!
