Well is anyone surprised that I was confused right off the bat? 🤣 Classic Alycia move. Goddamnit guys I try, I really do…

So I somehow missed the part in the beginning of the episode where Rick said the saucer they escaped in was out of power so I THOUGHT that “our” Rick and Morty had escaped successfully and were already back home…? And that we were maybe following a Rick and Morty that were left floating on the remains of the Citadel? I don’t know, it sounds silly trying to explain it now

But I will say I felt validated by the writers by the end of this episode because I think the point they were trying to make is… it doesn’t matter lol

Regardless, I thought this episode was so good and really started off this season with a bang! Let me know all your thoughts in the comments down below :)

PS: I tried recording this episode with my microphone but was having issues with audio drift. In order to get this episode out to you guys on time I just used my iPhone audio for the full length reaction but am working on fixing the audio for my edited reaction. Hopefully I have it figured out by next week and the audio will be much better for you guys for episode 2. My apologies for the background noise and poor audio in this one- especially towards the end :(

Hahahaha you don't have to worry about anything. Everyone makes mistakes, it happens. As long as you try your best (cliche 😂) your fans will appreciate it! I know I do, and I have yet to see your reaction. Regardless of what happens, it's always enjoyable to see the episodes with you 😊

DarkAshtar

I think season 5 was experimental to see just how far they were allowed to go. Season 6 has been great so far.

Hey Alycia great reaction as always. I had to pause and rewind this episode so many times to get the jokes and plot points (which is pretty much every episode) because I got too distracted from the beautiful animation this episode had! Looks like they received a massive budget increase for this season. The writers have very very very and one more very vivid imaginations.

Mark Ten

I didnt catch the first time that they finally acknowledge that Space Beth is the original, "Its not like I didnt care, thats what the clone is for." We were once told that Rick 137 was the Rickest Rick... not so sure now! So Morty is the actual grandson of this A**hole Rick and thats why our Rick adopted (?) him. Loved all the Jerry stuff too. Thanks for sharing Alycia - hope you feel better. Sorry for the ramble but its that kind of week.

Hey guys I'm back...soo confession time when I get really invested in a show I'm not doing great with endings and since The Owl House is such a show for me I kinda dipped out for a few weeks because I didn't want to deal with the ending. Even if it's super awesome, right now it could be anything and watching the end of it will kill all those other possibilities and I haven't been ready to deal with that yet. 😔 Well and also it means that I don't get to watch the show anymore I mean I guess there's gonna be like a couple of longer season 3 episodes or something if I recall correctly but anyways. I've loved this show pretty much from the get go but with Luz and Amity's romance being super adorable and me realizing I'm trans while watching the show it's kind of woven into the fabric of my life now and I don't want it to end yet. 😆 On the other hand I also noticed that for those few weeks my contentment level severely dipped because I didn't get to watch awesome fun and cute stuff with you Alycia, and however much you are grateful to us for our pledges you have no idea what positive impact you had and have on my life so you are very welcome and also thank you from the bottom of my heart! 💝 Alright with all the vulnerable corny shit out of the way...😁 Rick & Morty...fuck yeah. This definitely raised my mood and it was such a nice surprise that Rick & Morty came back right when the other 2 shows were ending...I don't look into any release dates because I watch it here anyways so I'm gonna see it when I'm gonna see it hehe. To be honest I do feel like they resolved a little bit much in this episode but like you said I guess we can see it as a reset. And don't get me wrong I loved it. To your question I do love making theories and stuff but that's not WHY I watch the show the show is just an awesome fun romp regardless of how nebulous the storyline is or not. And also I enjoy nothing more than when my theories are proven COMPLETELY wrong because that's so much fun because I got to kinda live my theory in my head AND get to see the actual show unfold so the further the two are apart the more entertainment I got out of the same amount of material hehe. Incidentally that's also how I world-build in my mind when reading stories or books especially fantasy. I'm curious how you build a scene in your mind when you read and how like vivid it is. I talked to a friend about this recently because I realized I had never spoken to anyone about this and it was fascinating how it differs from what I do. Also do you stop reading until you got the scene totally visualized or do you keep reading while trying to make on the fly adjustments to what is written? I do both generally I read and build the world in my mind as I read along while constantly swapping parts of the scene in and out as the new sentences contradict what I have already build. Like if I imagined the door on the right side of the room or imagined a fireplace and exposed brick in an area but the next lines clarify on more of the interior of the room/house then I kinda see those props flying in and out of that place in my mind and putting them in the right place or swapping them wit things that were specified at a later point while for some really complex scenes I stop for a moment until I got a visual locked so I could basically walk around in my image tell you where and what everything is and then continue reading on. I know random subject but I'm curious how you do it because it was one of those things were I thought "oh I guess everyone probably does it this way" based on absolutely nothing. 😁 And as I've learned with my transness assuming everyone probably thinks like you can be a dangerous road to go down lol or at least you might miss out on some of the cool diversity of how other people's minds work. I started thinking about this more after I watched an episode of Anthony Padilla "I spent a day with Aphantasics (People without a Mind's Eye) and I thought if there are people who can't picture things at ALL there's probably also quite some variation of how people who can picture things do it compared to me. But anyways I'm glad Rick & Morty is back and I hope I will get to those last few episodes of The Owl House soon when I stop being a pussy about it lol. Hugs, Elisa 🤗

MY GOD I COULD NOT LOVE YOU GUYS ANY MORE 😭❤️ Thank you Jeremy 🥺 I really hope you enjoyed this episode and my reaction! I’m so stoked this show is back. I think this season is going to be a really fun one, especially considering they took care of a bunch of canon questions right off the bat lol. Although another canon thing I’m looking forward to seeing (and hoping will be in this season) is Birdperson and Tammy’s kid!

alyciadweeb

The writers of this show are just so damn smart. I can't wait to see what they come up with this season. Looking forward to lots of laughs :D

alyciadweeb

I was sooo impressed by the animation in this episode! After rewatching old seasons in preparation for this one I couldn't believe how far the quality has come since season 1. You're right- they got that budget now hahaha!

alyciadweeb

And I actually find that I enjoy the episodes more watching them for a second time. I always pick up on jokes and nuances that I missed during filming when I go to edit the episode! So I totally relate to you on that

alyciadweeb

Wait... does that mean she's the original? I thought Beth didn't know because all of her memories were the same, and that Rick would be the only one who knew (even though he doesn't even know because he did the "switcharoo" thing with the clone tubes lol). I thought she was just making a point that she made sure that either way, her family would be taken care of. But I could be wrong! (wouldn't be the first time hahaha 😅)

alyciadweeb

And yeah... It's looking more and more like the "Rickest Rick" is this A-hole Rick. I'd love to see a team-up between him and "Evil Morty"... even though I think there's a chance we'll never see him again.

alyciadweeb

And never apologize for the ramble! I love talking about this stuff! Thanks for always being so kind and interactive and I hope that your weekend is wonderful 💖

alyciadweeb

Oh my goodness I have friends like this too! My friend Ian REFUSES to watch the last episode of “Friends” for this same reason. Honestly, I respect it. Television/movies/etc are about escapism and if not finishing whatever you’re watching allows you to stay in that place and that world, I can understand why you wouldn’t want to. But at least you know there’s still more Owl House coming! Even if it’s not a full season, it isn’t over yet :) And I totally agree that jumping into Rick and Morty helped soften the blow lol. “An awesome, fun romp” is literally the perfect way to describe R&M 🤣 Oh my gosh that’s such a beautiful way to put why you love making theories. I LOVE THAT! You get the live the imagined version and the canon version… that’s so cool 🥺 And that’s so funny I was just thinking about the reading/envisioning thing the other day. I just started A Court of Thorns and Roses (OBSESSED-NO SPOILERS PLEASE IF YOU’VE READ IT LOL although I know I don’t need to worry about spoilers with you) and I can see EXACTLY what each of the characters/settings look like in my head. And I do the same thing you do! I will swap out details if it varies. The last chapter I read, for example, I imagined the place the main character was in to be very dark but then the author described ceiling to floor windows and I was like- oh shit- gotta really revise that lighting now 🤣 I get so immersed when I read… similar to when I watch TV! Which is probably why I make a good reactor lol! I wonder if people who don’t enjoy reading as much maybe DON’T do this? And so the experience feels less enjoyable to them? What did your friend say about it? Do they imagine the scenes in detail too? That show sounds fascinating! Where can I watch it? Hugs right back! Have a wonderful weekend Elisa :D

You were absolutely right in what you were saying about a reset! I think the best way to make this show from here on out, with the amount of episodes they’ve signed on for, is to clear up most of what they were setting up continuity-wise in seasons 2 and 3, in a quick yet still fun to watch way! Manage fans expectations for the next however many seasons we’ve got to come. This episode was a perfect start with that in mind! It did set up some overarching plot for the season with the rick who started all this, but cleared up a lot of questions we’d been sitting on for some time! I loved revisiting Cronenburg world and Ricks original reality! Omg the animation here was just next level especially in Cronenburg world, the detail and especially the colour were really beautiful! Going back to Rick’s original reality was just heartbreaking, and of course he has Diane’s voice as an AI tormenting him day and night😭 “I live with a version of Beth now!” “Sounds like a version of nice” was a line that kinda hit me in the gut after a minute and really stood out to me! It almost read as funny to me when I first heard it but I feel like that’s how rick considers everything in his life now! I think in seeking revenge instead of working through his grief and opening himself up to infinite realities where nothing necessarily matters anymore, he distanced himself emotionally from ever having a connection like that again, and I think that line perfectly sums that up! Not only that I don’t think he wants another family really! Maybe he’s just always felt that your reality is your reality? Shown here in that he only came to this current reality to try and track down the Rick who killed his family! Since he’s kinda talking to himself here having made the robot it just makes it even more sad:( I hope that makes some sense that’s just how the line hit me! I loved having space Beth back for this one too! I was hoping after the season 4 finale maybe she’d stick around a while and create a really interesting new dynamic in the family, so it was cool to see them explore that more in this episode! Seeing how both Beth’s personalities differ and their outlooks based on that one difference, their choice of path, was *chef’s kiss*. I love it and I hope we see more of it, such an interesting dynamic and it has the potential for some amazing plot points going forward I think!

Morty’s “what a great joke I just told” moment was absolutely fantastic and a definite highlight for me!🤣 Cracked me up so gooooood, that kinda “simple” yet really well timed ridiculous comedy is what this show is so consistently great at! With the notable mentions of season 2 here I hope that’s somewhat of a message from the writers of the kind of direction they’re looking to take the show in going forward! There’s a certain effortless feel to season 2 especially on a rewatch, some of the episodes are just perfect in terms of comedy, pacing, drama, it’s all there and manages to fit into this insane mould of a premise this show has, I feel like that season really deserves the weight of the credit to elevating this show to the crazy level that it’s been at ever since. I know you’ve mentioned a couple of times now it’s your personal favourite season and having rewatched the whole show just recently in preparation, I have to agree! It’s funny, I always used to gravitate more towards season 3, I enjoyed the slightly bleaker tone it had and I have to admit I loved the ground they were laying continuity-wise with tammy bringing back Birdperson and the citadel with evil morty’s rise to power. Looking at it now though with a couple more seasons on the belt I see that those amazing whacky adventures with the whole family, most notably in seasons 1 and 2, are what really make this show so brilliant, the dynamic between all of them is just electric and makes for some of the most hilarious comedy there is I think! That’s what’s gonna keep this show going strong, utilising these really great characters that play so well off of each other!

Jordan

Omg one last thing mate, you’re “I should call her” was absolutely amazing that shit had my dyinggg, just perfect comedic timing right there loved it🤣🤣

I mean I'm definitely going to watch the rest of The Owl House I've never not finished a show but sometimes it takes weeks, months, or years I just want to be in the perfect mood to do it. Thanks for letting me know how you envision things I'm always super curious about other people. Ah btw from what perspective do you see the world when you create it? I generally have like an isometric view from above unless it's a very grand building or cave or whatever then I usually see it from first person until I see everything clearly and then the scene plays out in an isometric view. I wish I could draw I'd LOVE to draw some of those things that I imagine because they're so fun an detailed. Ironically when it comes to decorating my room I'm completely helpless lol...but I guess in my mind I'm also not constrained by money, finding a place to actually get the stuff etc. hehe so that definitely makes it easier. Maybe that's one of my next skills I learn, drawing, not only is it super satisfying in itself but I also just LOVE to learn things. Like the process of learning is my favorite thing in life, so much so actually that the process is more of the goal for me than to actually know the skill in the end. I mean it depends I started to learn Japanese 6 weeks ago so I can read manga and watch anime without subtitles...well also because I love Japan and if I ever go I don't want to be one of those people who expects people to speak English everywhere. 😁 And obviously while the learning is fun I'd actually want to know Japanese in the end or it's kinda pointless lol. It's super surprising to me how far I've gotten with Japanese in a couple of weeks...I can read and write (well hiragana anyways) and speak and understand basic sentences...those language learning apps are like 1000x more effective than language classes in school back in the day 😁. But I digress lol. My friend said that he focuses more on the people/creatures in the story and the background is more of a nebulous morphing thing that kinda has the shape a color of what you'd expect the described scene to have but he never has a sharp locked in image of it kind of like when you go through a tunnel in a car and look out the passenger side window and you see the tunnel wall rushing by and you can kinda see the wall and the color but never really focus on any particular part because it's gone too quickly. Unless the background is kind of a character in itself then he tries to visualize it as best he can. For example for me the Hogwarts castle is basically a character in itself and not just a random exchangeable location so he'd try to visualize that as best as he can but he said he can never get as clear a picture as he can with living things. Good point I never really thought about it like that you might be onto something there, would make sense that if you don't get super immersed in a story because you basically don't see it play out in your mind with incredible detail reading might actually be super boring 😁 but that is such a different concept that I can't even really imagine it I just get sucked into the world in the story. And like you said same with TV...not only do I see what's explicitly shown but I also see what implication that has on what's not shown or how I would feel in that situation because I'm extremely good at putting myself into a scene and feel everything...I think if I just watched shows kind of at face value I'd have to change aaaa LOOOT of ratings for a lot of shows. I LOVE Doctor Who but if it wasn't for my mental labyrinth of what ifs and imagine thats that show would be WAY less awesome than it is...it gives so many jumping off points to me creating just tons of stuff in my mind while I watch it. You can watch the show I mentioned on youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/AnthonyPadilla Anthony was part of smosh if you remember that on youtube. But now he sits down with groups of people every week and interviews them about their experiences. Like People with down Syndrome, Trans People, Bisexuals, Kidnapping survivors, Sex workers what have you. He also talks to a lot of youtube creators/personalities about how their rise to fame and stuff affected them and mental health struggles that came with that and stuff like that, I really like it. He's super respectful and you learn a lot about different people.

I don't think that line is acknowledgment of who is the clone. As Alycia said, both Beth's have all the memories of original Beth so both know a clone was made. So I feel that line was just to reference the clone in general and not Space Beth saying "domestic" Beth is the clone. If that was the case she would've said, "Its not like I didn't care, that's what YOU were for." And the "you" would've been Space Beth calling the other a clone.

Mark Ten

Well, watching the episode a second time and whenever they spoke together it seemed to me pretty clear they were acknowledging that Space Beth was the original, but that if you disagree, thats fine

alyciadweeb

Oh man I definitely didn't think about the "version of nice" line like that but now that I have it's hitting me hard too 😭 Yeah, you would think that if Rick really did think it was nice he would have had a reflective smile or some sort of light of realization in his eyes at that moment but he just sits there looking sad :(

alyciadweeb

I would be ecstatic for more of a season 1/2 vibe! And I really do think this premiere was setting us up for that. There's some canon stuff (like birdperson's daughter/if we ever see "evil" Morty again) that I'm looking forward to having sprinkled in. But I think with the show renewed for this many seasons they really did need to dial it back a bit.

alyciadweeb

And LOL omg I'm so glad someone got that 🤣 I was like- is it too much!?!? Hahaha I'm so happy it gave you a good chuckle
