Something tells me that the palisman didn't just randomly come up with the name "Caleb." Also, Darius seems to have some interest in Caleb ... why would he do so just because he was friends with Caleb's predecessor? Methinks something is going on there. Oh, and Amity's evil. EVIL!

Another lovely reaction to a super-fun episode! One of the Easter eggs with Hunter's story involves the "Old Golden Guard Seal" that he inherited. We've seen that particular symbol-seal before. It's the town-seal for Gravesfield Connecticut! So, yet another clue to the history-mystery connecting Philip, Belos, and the two brothers who went missing from Gravesfield back in the 1600s. Also, what's up with Darius? Seems like he very much has his own thing going on, as you pointed out -- and he has shown some surprising soft spots for the kids. I wonder if we'll learn more of the history between Darius and his mentor -- the previous Golden Guard! As for the "Author" subplot -- I loved how Tinella Nosa (Dana's self-insert character) is the public face of the Boiling Isles version of the Author. And having Tibbles assuming ownership and distribution of the books (with Mattholomule as the behind the scenes illustrator) strikes me as a wicked-fun dig at Disney! Author is just a human with human foilables, artists are concerned about getting paid for their creative endeavors, and the corporate big-wig running the whole thing treats it as a scam and a way to make money for himself -- much to the annoyance of the actual fans of the work! Plus, Luz and Amity doing the whole fan-theorizing thing is just delightful! Reminds me of how we the fans dig into theory-crafting about the Owl House! Very self-aware humor there! Anyway, keep up the good work and remember: y'all are awesome! Stay awesome!

My favorite part of the episode? That's easy...Steve! I need 10-30 seconds of Steve in every episode going forward or there will be disappointment in my soul. Also, I want Willow and Hunter to be a thing, so that he can see that there are more fulfilling things to get preoccupied by in life than blind servitude. Nothing can distract you from the best laid plans like new love. He's never been exposed to anything else, so every time he gets a taste of normalcy he seems off put by it, and yet pleasantly surprise once he's force to experience it. I just feel sorry for him. Also, I really dug the fishhook earring Viney was rocking.

Not as much to talk about this episode, which I think is a good thing. It’s nice to get breather after such an intense, plot-heavy episode like last week’s. This one was just a lot of fun, and it’s nice to see some of the background characters get a bit more screen time! And I loved the little Lumity B plot! This is the kind of stuff—just some cute little moments sprinkled in—that we miss out on in most cartoons, when the couple doesn’t get together until the last episode. Now for my comments on some particular moments: The Golden Guard sigil is the exact same sigil that’s on the Gravesfield town sign. Gus: What’s your name? Hunter: Uh… Cardinal: *chirps* Hunter: Caleb? Uh—Caleb! The Fandom: My theory senses are tingling! Speaking of fandom theories, I think it’s hilarious that the writers of this episode just completely trolled the fans with Luz and Amity’s increasingly wild guesses about the author! Like there is a whole fan made animatic about Luz’s mom actually being Azura. https://youtu.be/F-DzdO5NJVQ But I have so many questions! Like, why was Tiny Nose going to do a signing when the books only have one customer on the Isles? And why was she going to do a signing without some sort of illusion spell to make her look like the author? But she still showed up wearing stilts, a cloak, earrings, and a wig? And then she ran away from the only two fans of the books? Between this and the carnival episode I think it’s safe to say Tibbles is a terrible planner. Also I love that “the author” was just Dana Terrace’s self-insert character. And that she made the name Tiny Nose be short for Tinella Nosa. AND Luz commented on it! Just an all around great reveal scene! I always love the attention to detail they put into background stuff in this show, and the Penstagram accounts are no exception! - Eda commenting on Raine’s post, calling them a nerd and then asking them to return her calls! - Cool Aunt Lilith’s username being Chilly.Lily and posting reviews of new inks, referencing her line from 2x03, “Watching the ink dry is the best part.” #INK #BADGIRL #PENSTAGOOD #COOL - Alabomdor_1 Is…is there another user named Alabomdor? Or did Alador forget the password to his first account and just made a new one? And the callback to 2x07 when Darius told Kikimora—who was using an Abomabton 2.0–to tell Alador he’s a hack. “MEET THE 2.5!!!!!! #WHOSTHEHACKNOW” and then Emira commenting that he’s embarrassing! Also, is it just me, or does Darius following Alador but deciding to mute him give off some “bitter ex” vibes? After 2x07 I was not at all expecting Darius to become a complex character, but I love it! And I love this new big brother/little brother dynamic with Hunter! The real joy on Hunters face in the picture. He's so precious! We must protect that smile. My favorite parts of the episode was that group photo moment and that adventure of Lumity that just cancels out some, if not all, theories about the Azura author that has been circling around on social media. That's just so funnny! and also, Darious being the best uncle to Hunter? Were here for it!! Im really looking forward for the next episode. It is one of my in the entire show and Im so excited to watch it again with yooouu!!

Oh what a FUN episode! I laughed so much in this one. And you know what while there is a bunch of stuff in this episode that lends itself to speculation I'm just gonna enjoy it and not overanalyze it...I'll let fun brain take the reins for this week 😁 So funny when they made fun of hunter being slow at typing was so coincidentally fitting. A friend gave me his old smartphone yesterday and it's the first time I ever even had one in my hand and I feel like I'm 500 years old using that thing lol. By the way I'm not mad at that side-hair thing you got going on in that video 💖 Oh also, and this is probably a stupid thing to mention, but I really appreciate it that when you wear a necklace that the clasp is in the back where it's supposed to be I watch so many videos where the clasp is just bumping up against the pendant or somewhere along the side and it's driving me INSANE...I know I know this is such a stupid nitpicky thing but it's just how my brain works so thank you for never making me live through that 😂 Edit: Ah btw Alycia I was feeling myself today hehe so I took some pictures for the first time in my life lol in case you're interested in how my transformation has been going I can send you an email. 😄 Only if you want tho obviously. 😊

I love that you barely even got through the cold open before the theory cogs started turning, that gave me a really good laugh!🤣 Also I couldn’t agree more there were so many comedic gems in this episode it was kinda hard to keep up!! Any episode with Hunter at the forefront is sure to be a banger, but I loved how they built this episode around Willow and Gus having never actually met him. I didn’t even think about that fact, so it’s cool that they utilised that opportunity to let Willow and Gus get to know him a little first, see the good side of him, without instantly judging him as the golden guard! I hope that bond they formed helps Hunter out in the future because my ideal scenario for him is joining the side of wild magic! He’s a very charismatic and it seems kinda lonely character so I’d love for him to have the freedom to grow up and have some positive and encouraging people around him for once! Kinda random too but I loved the way he approached that random sweaty student “ignore the fact that we’ve never met”, that got me so good for some reason and I’ve gotta use that on a stranger one time for sure!😂 I can’t stop talking about Hunter however without discussing the conversations between him and Darius. I remember you said a couple of episodes back maybe Hunter isn’t actually Belos’ nephew, and I think you could be spot on! The way Darius ended Hunter’s sentence for him “Belos- “Nephew!”, it read to me as either “I know something you don’t” or “come on, we both know that’s not true”. To go further Darius mentioned a couple of times Hunter’s predecessors, probably just to make it clear that he is replaceable but maybe not, maybe Hunter is like a clone who’s had to be replaced multiple times? Or maybe the other man with Belos truly is Hunter and has been reincarnated or aged backwards due to a curse by Belos to keep him in check? I think I’m gonna take a leaf out of your book and stop theorising before I burn myself out lol, like some of these rabbit holes are genuinely endless with this show😂 Luz and Amity continue to nourish my soul in every way, like HOW are they just the absolute SWEEETEST COUPLE OMG😭 I really love that this show doesn’t try and drive a huge wedge between the two at every available opportunity! I don’t always find that route super interesting anyway, but i guess it’s just kinda refreshing to see a relationship blossom and continue to do so naturally and beautifully with every new interaction! Two sweethearts who just bring out the very best in each other😭 it makes me so happy and I for one hope they keep this happiness streak between the two cause it’s lovely✨ I’m totally with Luz on her tangent about books, I don’t always find the time for reading anymore but as a youngster I just adored it, especially the smell of the pages of a brand new boooook, that took me right back to my childhood when Luz took the biggest sniff off her book😂 Some random highlights were Gus looking out for Willow and recognising things haven’t been easy for her lately that was so sweet😭 I overlook them sometimes I think but their friendship, even just with each other is so great, they’re all very unique but you can absolutely see why they’re all friends! I ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION…. The sure fire highlight of this entire episode! Steve!!😂 man, I want nothing but happiness for Steve’s future, you can just tell that guy is way too nice to say no to anyone and that’s why he’s in the situation he’s in lol. If that’s his one and only cameo then we have been blessed but I’d love to see him again somehow in the future! As I haven’t asked you a question in a while what genre of Book would you write if you had to pick one? I’ve always enjoyed a good fantasy book but I also would love to try my hand at like a thriller, mystery type of story, I can only imagine that’s pretty difficult to write effectively! Thank you for another amazing video mate it was so fun laughing along with you this entire episode!

Hahaha I need more Steve too! I LOVE when shows give us glimpses inside otherwise faceless/voiceless characters' perspectives. ATLA used to do that too with obscure members of the fire nation. I remember thinking that was so cool and funny and it's awesome that TOH does it too. LONG LIVE STEVE WE MUST PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS

I can definitely get behind a Willow/Hunter ship- for all the reasons you just said! And man I feel so sorry for Hunter too. We saw him smile so much in this episode and it looked so strange at first literally just because I'm not used to seeing it 🥺 We've seen smirks but never this wide-toothed grin. I hope we get to see more of that in his future

I think TOH does a great job of this and I think the fans appreciate it too! It's a simple way to come up with B plots for episodes that also satisfy our curiosity!

Hahaha I don't think I have the cool-girl energy required to pull off that look but ti would certainly be a nice break from the heat in the summer! And LOL I AM SO ON TOP OF MY CLASPS for the same reason! I'm the friend that's always fixing my other friends' necklaces and I have a teeeeny panic when I look in the mirror and see my necklace has been messed up for who knows how many hours!? Okay "nourishment for the soul" should be Lumity's couple motto. I couldn't agree more. And I feel like this is maybe the first time I've EVER seen a show- cartoon or live action- treat a relationship so healthily and realistically. Literally any other show I can think of has a "Ross and Rachel" dynamic of some sort at some point. I love how strong they are in their communication and I LOVE that young kids are going to have a healthy example of a WLW relationship to look up to. So many queeer relationships in media in the past have had some sort of tragic element to them and I think we're seeing a dawn of writers treating these characters very differently. And it makes me **sOOOoooOOO hAAAaaaappYYYyyy**

Hahahaha I love Steve too! Billy and I were talking about him a few comments back and I just want good things for that guy, I swear lol. If I had the skills to write a book I would definitely write a fantasy novel! But goodness with all the world-building and character work that goes into something like that, it would be a challenge.
