Hola batatas <3

Happy Friyay :)

What are everyone's plans for this weekend? I just got back from JAPAN! :D I had a 24 hour layover in Narita through work and needless to say it was not enough time! Fingers crossed I'll get to go back soon. I definitely thought of you guys over there. Maybe I'll share some pictures on here! But my weekend plans include catching up on Z's and more Zzz's!

This weekend temperatures and humidity will be down, so I plan on sitting on the porch writing, and maybe some light house maintenance.

Did you notice the change in dialogues between Luz's conversation with her mom from yesterdays lie to this episode? I remember watching this episode, I was like, somethings different here... I dont know if its intentional, maybe its Luz's interpretation of what Camila said, mixed with some trauma, or is it just an error or extra voice acting and reusing or something like that. I dont also know if this was talked about between Dana and the crew. It is just interesting...

Wow Hooty hanging up his skin to dry actually startled and disturbed me for a second lol and that basically NEVER happens to me so that was a fun experience 😁 Last I felt like that was around 2004 lol and I've seen some shit in the meantime. Actually in the Eclipse Lake episode you said oh wow Kikimora is losing it and that actually made me think that IF she totally cracks she might actually crack in favor of being the good guy in the end so I guess I was suffering a little from confirmation bias this episode because I totally believed Kikimora when she pretended to just be a mess. Although frankly I'm not totally convinced that she was actually 100% faking and at the coven speech at the end she didn't seem totally down with what was going on or her place in it so she might turn into an ally at some point afterall. That being said I think the coven heads might actually also be in the running for unlikely allies because like you said they seemed to be more into the power and comfy lifestyle being a coven head provided them than actually being super into what Belos got going on. I feel like I was spot on with my prediction that on Unity Day he wants to transport all of the Boiling Isles to the human realm where magic doesn't work to get rid of his corruption. And I feel like once the coven heads realize that they're basically going to be powerless in the human realm they might band together with Eda and Luz and try to prevent that from happening! Because they literally gain NOTHING from that happening they only lose. Oh when I saw Amity see and pickup Luz' phone my brain immediately went into sappy romance mode and I was CONVINCED that since her video so far only showed the crazy and dangerous parts of the Boiling Isles that she would take the phone and go around and take videos of herself and of Luz' friends to show her mom all of the good things. So when she went to Willow I audibly shrieked super fast "I KNEW IT she's going to make a secret new part to Luz' video and it's going to be so sweet I'm going to cry" lol. Unfortunately I was wrong on that hehe but I still got to live it in my head where unbeknownst to Luz Amity had made little interviews with Willow and Gus and herself where they talk about how much they love Luz and how she made their lives better. 😭💖 But they went with the less cheesy and more realistic version where Amity was afraid and confused but actually pretty much immediately talks to Luz about it which is the best way possible to deal with things especially emotional things. As someone with at times crippling anxiety I spend my day worrying about shit and going through a billion scenarios that could all be terrible in one way or another and there is no upside to that because even IF things would go bad they went bad in ONE way but if you're agonizing about things you've experienced the misery of them going bad in a million different ways instead of just one. And while I can't control that part of my anxiety yet I CAN control it if that type of thinking infects other parts of my life so I immediately bring up anything that's bothering me because most of the time it's just a misunderstanding that can be easily cleared up instead of letting it fester for 6 months and being miserable over potentially nothing. Did Belos' speech seem kind of fake to anyone else? I don't think it was fake but something in me was like "Is that actually Belos his speech pattern and stuff are so weird". Probably because we've only seen him behind the scenes and he jazzed it up for the citizens to make it more palatable but I don't know something triggered my uncanny valley on that one. I'm so glad my Patreon issue was resolved before this episode came out I think I would have angry cried if I had to miss it. 😆 Oh wow Japan, I'm so envious! I hope you get to go again soon. Did you get to eat anything awesome while you were there? For some reason I immediately remember the One Punch Man episode where he eats ramen with Mumen Rider at this wayside ramen shack. Ohh and speaking of something that was great ASMR...I'm totally on board with Willow blackmailing Amity to basically give her in person ASMR lol who doesn't like their hair being played with it's the best! See you next week my sweet potatoes! 😘

Didnt get the part about looking forward to meeting Luz line, more going on there. Glad to see Amity & Willow able to move onward - what did you think about Willow's new hairstyle?

DarkAshtar

It only gets better with this season.

Mark Ten

I noticed that too, wasnt sure if they made a change because of editing (esp with the shortened 3rd season) or its just how people memories play them false sometimes and remember things that didnt really happen or were said.

My weekend plans are mostly about trying to find a way to exercise my dog when it’s going to be in the 90s and humid 😫 People who think Minnesota is cold all year round should come visit in the summer. Anyway, can’t wait to watch the reaction when I get home this afternoon! I’m

Jenny D

I think my state is taking the heat and humidity from wherever you are cuz starting Sunday the weather here is gonna suck.

Jenny D

Ugh, I really do love this episode so much! I think it was such a strong start to set up for the back half of season 2, the Lumity subplot was handled perfectly, and they scattered in some nice little hints of foreshadowing that are incredible to catch after different episodes air. I’m making mental notes to bring them up in comments on the relevant episodes! One thing that I thought was interesting was how the last episode ended with Luz lying to Eda, King, and Hooty about her mom, but then in this episode they already know the truth. I’d be willing to bet money that a storyline about Luz having to tell them the truth got cut when Dana and the crew found out about their shortened season 3.

alyciadweeb

Oooh I'm so envious! I love a good porch sit :D Yeah Jenny, I'm with you! Texas is freaking miserable this time of year >.<

alyciadweeb

Oh yeah! I think Amish mentioned this as well! I wonder why that happened/they chose to do that? I really like your theory, Jubiie... that Luz doesn't exactly remember what was said, but remembers the emotions more than anything

alyciadweeb

Awww thank you Jubiie :) I FINALLY got a good rest in last night and I feel like a million bucks! Just in time to film more episodes so I can be ready with a new video for y'all this week :D Things are heating up in the Boiling Isles!!!

alyciadweeb

I love that Hooty's skinless skeleton freaked you out so much LOL! I was right there with you. I was NOT expecting to see that first thing! For such a goofy character he sure does so creepy stuff!

alyciadweeb

And Oh. My. Gosh. I would put money on your prediction being spot- on as well. And that would be the perfect reason for the coven heads to turn against Belos! Okay. Yes. I am down for this plan.

alyciadweeb

AWWWWW that would have been super cute of Amity if she went that route with it! But I really like what the writers decided on and I thought it was so mature and cool of Amity to talk to Luz and not watch the video without her permission. THOSE TWO ARE JUST GOALS I SWEAR. Also I think it's cute that so far it seems like Amity is the one who's slightly more insecure in the relationship. Between the texts she got at Eclipse Lake and now this video... Like of course she's totally valid to feel insecure about those things! But I just would have pictured it the other way around because of Amity's "cool girl" persona. I guess they've sort of let up on that recently. I love that we're seeing a new side of her with Luz :')

alyciadweeb

I feel like Belos's speech did sound staged, but I also think that plays into his whole "corrupt politician" role. He was being fake- nice.

alyciadweeb

Actually I DID eat ramen while I was there :D And honestly now any other ramen is ruined for me because it was upsettingly good lol! And something else I realized while I was there is I could eat and eat and eat and NEVER GET FULL. The Japanese put a lot less fat in their food so you can fill up and then a half an hour later be hungry again lol! But you wouldn't gain the same weight as you would with an American meal. Is it like that in Germany, too? Do they use more fresh ingredients? I looooove German food!

alyciadweeb

I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT HER!!!!! I thought she had just gotten stronger cause she was lifting lol! She's such a great character, man.

alyciadweeb

Oh my gosh I would not think that Minnesota got humid! Ugh, I'm sorry and I share your pain. It's HAWT in Texas these days. Although I don't have a pup I'm obligated to walk outside so I can escape the heat a little more than you I think!

alyciadweeb

Jenny you're a gem! I'll be so excited for you to share things I missed in past episodes once they're revealed! I bet this show is such a fun one to go back and rewatch :D

alyciadweeb

And WOAH it completely went over my head that the rest of the gang knows now! I bet you're absolutely right and that's something they had to cut for time. I feel like they took a "while you were gone!" approach since y'all originally had to wait a while for 2B episodes? They could pass it off as "Oh yeah, we talked about this at the dinner table at the Owl House, you just didn't see it" XD

Mark Ten

Love that lifting detail! And so glad you had a good trip!

Anonymous

You're right it's kind of cute that Amity seems more insecure because she was portrayed as that badass but in my experience in life a lot of people just put up a tough front because if they don't they would fall apart and from all the pressure, control and expectations put onto Amity especially by her mom it makes sense to me that that's just kind of how she had to be and Luz showed her that there's another way as well! I think that's why she was reading to the kids that was her outlet before Luz to be vulnerable and not have to put up a tough shell for little while so it always was closer to her true nature. So glad you got to eat some good ramen honestly I only know Japanese ramen from anime and like travel documentaries but every time I see it I feel like I'd LOVE it! I mean to be real with you I really most only know the American stereotypes through podcasts, tv shows and movies so I'm not sure how Germany compares to the US or Japan. I mean I suppose like everywhere it depends on where or what you eat. However ordering food seems more of a thing in the US than over here but that might just be another stereotype from tv shows or podcasts since most podcasts I watch are from comedians so they got the money to order out whenever they want ^^ The explanations I'd often hear is that with prices of fresh ingredients in the US ordering out can simply be cheaper or about equal without having to cook do you feel like that's accurate? I wouldn't be super surprised if that was the case I've recently watched a video on the pink tax in the US and the prices of some of the stuff is RIDICULOUS like literally sometimes 200-400% more expensive than female products over here with the "lower" end "only" being around 60-80% more expensive. So if someone told me fresh groceries make cooking super expensive I'd believe it. 😅 How often do you cook? Because obviously when I cook I use all fresh ingredients and out of 30 days in a month I cook from scratch about 15ish times depends on the day though right now it's around 102F and I just can't stand in the kitchen when it's that hot no way...and generally no AC over here either so it's rough :) Just as a point of comparison if I order out I have to spend around 25 bucks for one ok-sized meal but if I cook my recently perfected spaghetti mushroom bolognese I can eat that for like 12 meals and I pay around 19 bucks and that's all fresh with meat from the butcher. Any specific German food in particular you love? I'd also be interested to hear what you think is German food 😁 I watch a lot of these videos of US expats living in Germany or other places in the world and seeing the local culture through their eyes...so hearing what you would consider German food is actually really interesting to me. The funniest thing about those videos is how they all freak out about our crazy windows and also the fact that we have blackout shades made of plastic or wood you can let down on the outside of virtually any window to completely make the room black, and those are built into the house/apartment. 🤣 Sometimes you just take a thing for granted until you learn a lot of people in the world sleep like savages with light coming into their room wtf 😁 To be honest compared to the US the best German stuff is probably bread and beer because I've had a multitude of those two things from the US because my best friend's dad was working for the US military over here so they bought all the groceries in the military commissary and without wanting to seem cocky if you had German bread and beer before the US versions seem like a blind guy tried to make something similar only going by a rough second hand account of what those things are supposed to taste like 😉 But yeah nothing wrong with a good Bratwurst tho. On the other hand American Pizza is SOOO much better I've had a couple of meatball and peperoni pizzas from a place at the military base probably around 1999-2001 and I still dream of that pizza on a regular basis lol. But after 9/11 foreigners weren't allowed onto the military base anymore so terrorists ruined my pizza...and I will never forget! 😋

Jenny D

Uff, yeah, Minnesota is hot and humid during the summer—we’re in the middle of a three day heat wave and today the “feels like” temperature is gonna be 108°F—but my aunt moved to Texas a few years ago and I refuse to visit her during the summer. Outside of heatwaves our average for the summer is like mid-80’s and that’s already too hot for me. Granted we’re probably one of the most humid states thanks to our 11,000+ lakes, but that also means plenty of places to cool off with a swim!

Jenny D

Oh yeah, we have 11,000+ lakes (our slogan says “Land of 10,000 Lakes” because I guess it just rolls off the tongue better) so like May through September is nothing but humidity. But I’m naturally a cold-weather person so I definitely wouldn’t make it in Texas!

Jordan

Heyyyy Alyciaaa sorry had a crazy busy weekend to say the least but i just wanted to jump in and say I absolutely loved this episode! Lumity manages to just nourish my soul every episode it seems these days😭 and omg Japan sounds AMAZING! It’s definitely one of the highest on my list of dream places to visit, I can imagine the food was insaneeee😍 did you manage to have some fun over there despite being short on time?

alyciadweeb

Jordan! Hi friend! Glad you made it and I hope your week has been less hectic than your weekend! Lumity could literally heal the world, I’m convinced lol. And I did have a wonderful time! I got to see a ton of shrines and temples and had the best ramen of my life! 😋
