Well, not what I was expecting, I was so ready to hate "Creepy Luz"... or "Not-So-Much Creepy Luz". We saw that other basilisk before when it invaded Hexside and stole everyone's powers. I guess that promise Luz made is going to comeback and haunt everyone later.

Holy buckets! This was such an amazing episode; maybe my favorite one so far. When Luz's mom talked about V being so brave the waterworks just started flowing. So many things revealed in this episode. My mind is filled with racing thoughts. I can't wait to see what happens next! Also, I'd love to think that "Monster Slayer Academia" is supposed to be an amalgam of Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia, since those are two of my favorite shows. Even if it was a reference to some of the other hundreds of near identical titles, I'm just going to pretend it's that.

I know I probably say it in one way or another every episode but this show is just incredible! Seriously each week I’m so blown away at how they create these super interesting scenarios for whoever is being focused on, that serve as really amazing self contained arcs while also furthering the main plot and enriching each character that comes along with so much complexity. They make this world feel so lived in and that’s such an important element for me! Those smaller details they expertly weave throughout, showing that there’s so much more to this world we just haven’t been shown yet, not only do I respect it on a technical level yk how much love and thought has been put into each frame, but it really helps with that extra level of immersion for me too when I’m left thinking about an episode hours and days after it’s finished. Something this show is especially great at and this episode is a prime example of my point✨ For instance I loved the idea that someone on earth had noticed Eda on her travels and devoted so much of their time to finding her again. Although an absolute tool he did give us a clue about these two men we see a couple of times this episode. I could be way off here but I’m gonna throw this theory out there anyway. Assuming one of these gentlemen is Phillip, could it be that this “Titan” the very foundation of the boiling Isles, is actually the other man? Seeing the picture of those two with the witch just got me thinking, like maybe she turned him into a Titan or he made a bad deal and something happened? Maybe the witch could’ve been Eda? The timeline might not work for that one I’m not sure but either way it really left me wondering. As for V I’m kinda glad they didn’t go for the evil counterpart storyline they looked to be setting up, they took an opportunity to make her a real character with trauma and I think this story was so much better for it, it absolutely gut punched me to see how much she just appreciated being loved by Camila, like damn🥺 also the numbered test subjects, maybe a litte call to Stranger Things? That’s where my mind instantly went anyway lol. You bring up a great point though about what exactly will happen when all is said and done! Let’s say the situation arises where Luz has to chose one place forever, I don’t necessarily know that Luz would go home. Leaving Eda, King, Gus, Willow, AMITY! yeah that would be a tough one for her for sure, obviously I hope it doesn’t come to that, your version sounds much nicer!😂 I loved this messed up portal they made here too, it looked so cool but like what even was that? The space between the two realms maybe? It gave me the realm of magic from SVTFOE and Infinity Train vibes in equal parts😂 OMG LOVED the call to Interstellar as well mate one of my absolute favourite movies and soundtracks🌟 Also I’ll be darned if I miss out Camila in this episode, she was amazingggg, like what a caring and understanding person! I hated seeing her get upset there at the end, I wish Luz could’ve explained more too but I guess it’s all the more heartbreaking that time ran out, I hope she can get back to her soon😭 Overall fantastic episode I couldn’t be enjoying this show any more if I tried!😁✨ Random sidenote I know you’ve mentioned struggling with anxiety in the past, does it ever affect the way you sleep? I’ve always been kinda rubbish at sleep, especially if I have even the slightest thing on my mind but I recently stumbled across this YouTube channel, Nomadic Ambience, this solo photographer records hours of beautiful locations on his travels and I’ve been listening to them the past couple of nights to such great results! Like I never normally sleep through the night undisturbed so its been kinda crazy actually😂 There’s this one he did at Twin Lakes, Colorado which is especially great, not only the beautiful ambience but the scenery also is so stunning. Yeah really amazing stuff would highly recommend if like me you struggle with anything like that:’) wishing you the loveliest rest of your weekend mate, take care!

I remember thinking way back when this episode came out, I was like, " who is this evil doppelganger?!" and then it was revealed it was just a Kid Basilisk named number 5 or Vee trying to live because Belos is treating them harshly. Must protect Vee 🥺🥺

I dont know if it was already stated here but when Luz keeps calling "doppelganger", "luz noceda 2.0", the cubes dont work, up until she tells herself to breathe and count to five, which is Vee's real name, number five. I was genuinely so surprise and amused when someone pointed it out. So good!

You are so lucky to not have to wait for Season 2b. I dont know if it was the longest hiatus but its sure feels like a loooooong time waiting. Next week, we'll start Season 2b and its gonna be a WILD RIIIIIIIDE!!!! Can't wait to watch it again, now with you

I don't know if you've started watching season 2B yet, but one of the reasons I keep harping on pay attention to everything on the screen and in dialogue is that, since they are only getting six episodes for season 3, they have started cramming lore into the background and the foreground and dialogue since they won't be able to put it into episodes.

Zulu! Hi friend! What's up? :) My week has been pretty dang good! I actually got to work a flight to Japan! I'd never been but it had always been my dream to go :D I only spent 24 hours there but I went to see the temples and shrines (I was in Narita) and I ate some delicious ramen! Have you ever been? Have you done much traveling? What's new with you? :)

I was saying in some of the comments before this- I got so invested in Vee's story that I just COMPLETELY overlooked all of the lore that was revealed in this episode lol! I'm kind of embarrassed but I think that's just how my brain works. I get so caught up in character arcs/emotional pull/shipping (lol) that I forget to pay attention to the world building! But I guess it's okay because it makes those big reveal episodes even more effective and it makes rewatching shows a real treat because I pick up on things I missed before :)

Wow I'm super into this theory of yours. It's different from the others I've heard but it would be really cool/pretty messed up if that happened. And it would explain why Belos is so against wild magic! I'm starting to think that Belos isn't Philip but his brother instead. And Hunter is the son of Philip.

And I really like that they threw us a curveball with "creepy Luz" as well! Vee ended up being suchhh a sweetheart and I agree that seeing her melt from Camilla's kindness made ME melt! Again with those gosh-dang, heart-felt human moments in this show! And yess Interstellar's soundtrack is just too good! I actually saw Hans Zimmer perform live at Coachella a few years ago and it was the absolutely highlight of the weekend for me. And when he did the Pirates of the Caribbean theme everyone was jigging around like pirates 🤣 Sorry that's such a random share but it's such a core memory for me lol!

And I am absolutely going to check out Nomadic Ambiance! I love relaxation channels like that! I do sometimes have trouble turning my brain off and falling asleep so this sounds right up my alley! My go-to sleep channel at the moment is Jason Stephenson. He does guided sleep meditations and he has this calm, deep, british voice and starts every video with, "Hullo...My name is Jason Stephenson" and I'm always like, "I know, hello Jason." 🤣 His voice is kind of lulling and dull (in the best possible way! lol) and I go to sleep so fast when I put his stuff on

Oh you're so sweet 🥺 And hahaha I am happy to report I've been drinking lots of water! And attempting to eat healthy! I was just telling Zulu I actually got the opportunity to go to Japan this week for work :D I was only in Narita for 24 hours but I made the most of it by going to see the shrines/temples nearby and eating the most delicious ramen I've ever had! I was so grateful to the experience. How is your week going, friend? :)

I'm so grateful to you guys because you always help me pay attention to the details I overlook! My brain and personality can both be quite airy sometimes and I tend to breeze through episodes just enjoying them without looking for the fine print. I'm gonna put on my detective hat from here on out and try to pay closer attention!

Oooo you make some great points that I didn’t even consider, like he totally would hate wild magic and take his nephew under his wing in a situation like that! Maybe we’re actually on to something here lol! And NO WAY you got to see Hans Zimmer mate, sooo jealous!! I bet that was nothing short of spiritual to put it lightly😂😭 I especially loved his work on the recent Dune movie but yeah the Interstellar, Man of Steel, Kung Fu Panda, Inception, Modern Warfare 2 etc soundtracks just blow me away every time, that man is such a genius🌟 I bet dancing to He’s a Pirate was an out of body experience omg I can’t even imagine how great that was, like if that ain’t a core memory I don’t know what isss!✨ Do you have a favourite soundtrack of his? I’d say the rain is my most relaxing sound to sleep to and living here in the UK I can get that naturally 90% of the time lol, I’ve never tried guided meditation though but I’ll definitely be giving some of his a try, even just see how his voice compares to the one I did in my head reading that😂

You know what? Im kinda' glad that Vee was there for Camila. In spite of the deception at least she wasnt worrying about her missing daughter. And wasnt it interesting that Vee was able to make friends with the high school kids at camp when Luz had no idea how to do that? Seems like Luz had to go to the Boiling Isles to learn how to make friends. Luz has a great personality, but is totally lost in the human world.

I have to ask...did you do that anime sigh of satisfaction when you finished your ramen? That's the one dorky thing my friend wanted to do when we had real authentic ramen...there's a video out there of it...but to have ramen from the homeland...what did you get? Something without mushrooms I hope. (and if you're ever in Chicago or Milwaukee check out Ramen-San in North River, and Kawa Ramen and Sushi in Murray Hill)

It’s also easier to miss stuff since you can’t pause the show. A lot of the stuff I’ve noticed personally was when I either rewatched an episode or I paused the first time I watched it, but obviously you can’t do that for the watch along reaction. And honestly I miss a lot of stuff on my own too! That’s one of the main reasons I go to the subreddit, which you can’t do without getting spoiled at this point.

OMFG YEEES THE PAYMENT FINALLY WORKED! 😁🤩 I was starting to have panic attacks that I'm going to miss the first new episode tomorrow that I haven't seen...ok now I can watch episode 9 and 10...sadly very late but at least I'm going to be there tomorrow for the new unknown episode I would have been so upset if I had missed that because Patreon wouldn't let me pay for some reason 😮

Jenny that just made me feel so much better lol. Those points are all so true! I’m usually much more discerning when I’m able to pause the show or explore deeper into the online fandoms! I remember I didn’t even realize how much was hidden in Gravity Falls under after I’d watched the whole thing and was able to deep dive into the show without worrying about spoilers! I can’t wait to do the same with The Owl House! And again, I’m so grateful to have y’all in the meantime 🥰

I haven’t seen Dune but from what I’ve seen of the aesthetic and know of the storyline he would be the perfect person to do that soundtrack! Honestly Pirates is probably my favorite. Idk if it’s just nostalgia that makes me love it so much but that main theme gets me pumped up to this day lol!
