Oh, another thing I wanted to mention now in case you haven’t filmed it (idk how many weeks ahead you typically film reactions) but without spoiling anything I’ll just say that starting at 2x09 things start popping up in the backgrounds of scenes that provide clues to the larger mysteries. Of course there have been clues to stuff in past episodes, but I’d say 2x09 is when they really start picking up in quantity. I know since you do a watch-along style you can’t pause to look at stuff while filming, but I thought I’d mention it for when you’re editing.

I would indulge the other dweebs about things in the show, but sadly I finally joined the vid gang!😵‍💫 It only hurts when I laugh. I chose a polar bear because like them I am a solitary creature with destructive power and can be a gentle giant as well and I love the cold. As far as the crow goes that was my patronus on Pottermore and honestly crows are amazing birds, they are super smart and can recognize people. For a while, I've actually been considering trying to make friends with the crows in my neighborhood, just feeding them and the like.

If you want something that flies AND floats you could always go with some type of waterbird, like a swan or a duck or something? I’d go with a Loon personally, since it’s my state bird and they’re very uncoordinated on land.

Wow that opening sequence....let me collect my thoughts on how to properly write this out because just this short scene had my mind racing with ideas that all connect. First of all the seat Belos was in had what looks like a portal behind him and it looks very similar to the portable one Eda had, I totally missed that before, as well as what was in the playback of Philip Wittebane's journal. Which once again in my mind points to Belos probably being Philip. And this vision or whatever it was when they all put their let's call them coven sigils into their respective slots and the eyes of the titan skull was glowing...there was a human city around the skull and what looked like the earth's moon. So is the goal of unification day to bring the boiling isles into the human realm? When Belos went into that other room and had his weird transformation outburst was that wild magic? Seems like it right? Hunter also said if he told him how wild magic did this to him maybe that could help to figure things out or something to that effect. Also Hunter is totally Belos' son right? I feel like they look similar and he also has this nick in his ear same as Belos does. Which would also explain why he has no magic himself if Belos is Wittebane and Hunter is his son. Damn my mind is racing it's hard to order these thoughts so let me just tell you a story how my mind connects all these dots. A long time ago Philip Wittebane came to the boiling isles and got trapped there. In order to get back home he started traveling and researching all the aspects of the boiling isles to find out as much as he can. He stumbles onto the concept of "wild" glyph magic which he uses in various ways to further his goal. He finally manages to create the mobile portal but in doing so became corrupted with wild magic and though the trauma of that initial corruption looses the portal in some way which Eda many years later happens to find. Having lost all he worked for and possibly his memory of at least some of his past he meets a witch he falls in love with and she gets pregnant, while the corruption in Philip slowly grows and him being unaware of it. Some weeks or months go by and the first outburst of wild magic from his body triggers his memories to come back and being hurt and angry and disgusted by this transformation an all consuming obsession starts to take hold. He leaves his partner before Hunter is born in a quest to get rid of wild magic in hopes that this will remove the corruption from his body and return him to normal. In his travels and all he learned he thinks or knows that magic or at least the wild magic that corrupted him is powered by the remains of the titan, and that this source of magic doesn't work in the human realm. A plan starts to coalesce. With all his knowledge he starts to convince people that wild magic is evil and in order to be safe from its corrupting influence you have to specialize in one type of magic. He gathers believers around him and slowly creates the coven system. His ultimate goal however is by making people specialize in only one type of magic he wants to cultivate the most skilled and most powerful people for each type of magic to eventually help him with his quest. His plan is to teleport the remains of the titan into the human world therefore eliminating the source of his corruption because that power power can't exist in the human world and to have the heads and therefore most powerful of each coven help him with this. He constructs the portal in the chest of the titan we see in the opening sequence. But he still needs whatever he used to create the original mobile portal in order to make the new portal work so his plan can't be executed yet. While looking for his missing piece he meets Hunter who somehow lost his mom and "adopts" him not telling him that he's actually his father. Since hunter is half human he has no bile sac and magic of his own so he creates a staff for him so he can assist him in his quest. And this is basically the point in the story we're at right now 😁 There are definitely some holes in this story and some problems with the timeline especially since my assumption is that the corruption is what kept him alive for so long and by consuming the Palisman's power he fends off the corruption completely overtaking him akin to what the elixir is doing or did for Eda. But yeah this is what I'm going with for now, I'm DYING to find out more it's so frigging hard to not watch ahead lol. Since this is a crazy wall of text already I'm not gonna go into the rest of the episode too much there were cute and funny moments especially Luz going "too slow" which is kind of a lame thing on earth because it's so known and common but this may have been the first time anyone has done this in the Boiling Isles so that aspect made it hilarious to me. 😂 I hope you're having a great day, can't wait for next week! 💕

Ohh and if I could have a Palisman it would probably be an Octopus or a Cuttlefish as those to me are the coolest animals on earth. Ever since I saw the first long documentary on them they fascinate me...their ability to change the shape color and texture of their body in the blink of an eye is astounding to me as well as their ability to hypnotize prey by essentially making their bodies flash with different colors it's sooo cool! 🤩💖 Edit: Oh also I think this is the first time with spiders in any show where you didn't squirm and go "nononono" that honestly was the most shocking to me 😁 I was like "Oh spiders ok here we go, poor Alycia" 😘

Season 2 just. keeps. on. GIVING. with these great character episodes, like this was jam packed with development and hints to the greater lore of the boiling islesss, so much to think about!! Such an interesting way to open this one too, I’m definitely worried about what the day of unity has in store, like what does purifying the magic really mean because that skull seemingly transporting to earth did not look very good at alllll, just bad vibes all round in that room!😅 I got my wish from last episode for more golden guard and I’m certainly not mad about it!✨ Hunter is a really interesting character underneath that mask, and if you’re theory about him actually being human is correct (which I have a feeling it is because it’s brilliant and makes a heck of a lot of sense!) then he has so much more to offer to this story than I originally thought which is so exciting!! Also you just hit the nail on the head with Luz, like show me a more loyal, sincere and just good person all round, I can wait🌟 I mean if anyone could sway Hunter away from the dark side it’d be the epitome of goodness that is Luz and I hope that’s what happens because Hunter seems pretty cool! Finally I have to talk about Belos for a sec, it was so interesting to see his flesh like melting through his mask and how this rare magic keeps that from happening, I wonder if it’s like mother Gothel from Tangled where she’s so old at that point she can’t be without what’s sustaining her or she’d just instantly die? I don’t know for sure but I definitely believe you’re on to something with your theory and I have to admit my mind didn’t even go there until you mentioned it, I’m gonna have to come back with a fire prediction off of next week’s episode to make up for it😂 oooo I think I’d go for a cat maybe as my palisman, although that goose one was sooooo cuteee I would’ve wanted that one out of all the options they had🥺😭 i wish I had some deeper reason like you do for my choice of animal but really I just love cats lol. A quick question for you mate, you’ve definitely spoken about this before in parts but was flying and the job you have now what you always wanted? I know you’ve had different career paths too but you definitely seem like a traveller at heart from what I know about how much you’ve had to move around and all the awesome places you’ve gotten to see, I think even when we spoke about superpowers way back when you went for the ability to fly, it just seems like a part of you in a way and you talk about it very passionately so I was just curious especially from your comment this episode, or was it a lot less planned out than I’m picturing? Okay this is so funny because I was going to give these reasons for the animals you listed but I couldn't quite remember if I was getting it right, but I got it spot on! Belos being Philip would add such a fantastic layer to the show. The person Luz needs help from the most is the person she’s least likely to get it from. It would certainly make for some fantastic writing. I could also see you being right about Hunter being Belos’s son. Although why hide that from him? There’s a story behind that if it’s true and I WANNA KNOW IT lol OH! I just read ahead and you gave us a story! 😂 Omg I love it! Very creative and also entirely possible! I’m genuinely honored that you’re waiting week to week to watch with me and would not be offended one bit if you watched ahead! Season 2 really is the gift that keeps on giving 😭❤️ Whenever you said you hoped there would be more golden guard episodes I had just watched this one and had to try so hard not to say anything lol! I freaking hate spoilers, even minor ones that other people might not even consider spoilers, so I just kept my mouth shut (er…my fingers… off the keyboard? hahaha). I loved getting to know him better in this episode too and everyone seems on board with the idea of him being part human which is exciting cause usually I’m wrong about these things but I feel like I could actually be right this time LOL. And I love Luz so heckin much. Her “too slow” high- five joke in this episode CRACKED ME UP and I don’t even know why lol. She’s just so wholesome 🥺 Listen, liking something is absolutely a good enough reason in my book for you to choose it. A catisman it is! And omg I loved that goose too. There was something very Over the Garden Wall about it and I feel like there’s some lore behind the bell we don’t know about… and if there wasn’t before I imagine there are loads of fan theories floating around the internet about it now haha! Okay I apologize if I’ve told this story before but when I was younger I was obsessed with fairies or anything magical or super-powery that could fly. I used to wish every birthday when I would blow out my candles that I would be able to fly 🤣 I grew out of that wish, naturally, but there was a birthday I had recently where I went to blow out my candles and had this super emotional realization that that wish DID come true. I’m a flight attendant! I fly every day! So I think there was always something in me that yearned for that freedom, but ironically I used to be afraid of flying on airplanes! I never considered becoming a flight attendant until my acting career wasn’t going all that great and I was looking for other career options that didn’t involve going back to school. I had mostly outgrown my fear of flights (and after training and learning how safe it actually is to fly, I’m not afraid at all anymore), and I had a few family members suggest the idea to me. So I really just fell into being a flight attendant, but I love it so much and can’t imagine doing anything else now. I love the travel and the flying aspect but honestly I also just really love helping people. I’m too squeamish to do something like nursing and I’m not outspoken enough to get into politics, but there’s tons of people who are afraid or feel overwhelmed to fly and when I can help them that feels really good. You also never know why someone’s traveling. I’ve had people come up to me to say that they were traveling to a family member’s funeral or for a last-ditch effort cancer treatment and that me being nice to them helped them get through the day. I live for that kind of thing- which I think you know because that’s the way I see the channel as well. Anyways, I’m off on a tangent now but thank you for asking because writing this honestly re-inspired me on just how much I do love my jobs lol! I hope you’re having a great week, friend. How is the ankle by the way? Are you able to get out and about at least now??

You're right they ARE like alien creatures, in fact once I learned a lot about them I was like "Eh not so fussed about aliens being discovered anywhere else anymore, shape of life is just a circumstance of environment we got totally alien creatures right here and people barely care about them...what does it matter where they are from" 😁 The spiders were after Luz saves Hunter and they go to this town and one of the townspeople fights / gets rid of some spiders with a skull on their carapace. It's only like 3-4 seconds long so you must have missed it (around 12:08) honestly I just really doubted myself because I didn't find it again at first lol. Not sure why Belos would hide the fact Hunter is his son, in my narrative he's ashamed of leaving Hunter's mom and it seems easier to seem like a benefactor who's taking him in than to admit that it was his job to care for Hunter in the first place? I hope we'll find out this season, I have so many questions hehe. Nah I'm not gonna watch ahead there's only so many episodes left and sometimes not giving in to instant gratification is probably a good thing 😉

I feeeel you on the spoilers front mate and I really appreciate how you take that into consideration in your comments, especially since you mentioned you film ahead sometimes. I’m planning to go see doctor strange this weekend actually and have not done well at avoiding spoilers for that one at all😂 It’s definitely fair game at this point it’s just in my current situation getting to the nearest cinema is kinda tricky without some awesome person to take you lol. Speaking of I’ll just answer one of your later questions while we’re on the topic, my ankle is doing great thanks for asking! It’s definitely a long game and there’s some way to go but I’m feeling really positive about how it’s healing, and yeah I can get around pretty good now with my crutches which is great for me, I’m not a big fan of being cooped up for long periods of time and I really find a lot of comfort in a long walk so getting to go back out again, even on a smaller scale, and get some normality back to my days has been really good for the ol’ noodle that’s for sure! Oh also I’m absolutely kicking myself for not mentioning the “too slow” moment in my comment because omg I laughed just as hard as you did!!🤣 That has got to be one of my all time favourite Luz moments of the show so far, so perfectly Luz🌟 That whole paragraph was so beautiful to read dude thank you so much for such an honest and lovely answer✨ Omg reading about baby Alycia blowing out her birthday candles and wishing she could fly actually got to me like that is just the sweetest thing, and YOU GOT YOUR WISH like how amazinggg😭 I absolutely love that it wasn’t really planned and all happened by the right place right time and yet despite all that it really seems like thats where you were meant to be! I mean it’s more than clear to me just how genuine and kind a person you are through this channel alone so I can’t even imagine the amount of positivity and kindness you’re able to put out into the world in a job such as yours. That’s a really interesting point too I bet you meet people from literally all walks of life on your flights, more than any other job I think you probably get to interact with the broadest and most diverse spectrum of humanity which is so cool now that I think about it! I'm sooo glad you're able to at least go for little walks again! I really dislike being in my apartment for more than a few hours at a time so I empathize with you so much. And thank you for such a thoughtful reply! I've always been a people person but the interaction aspect has definitely taken practice for me lol! I've been really intentional over the past few years about working on my ability to talk to random people but the more I've seen that most people are dying for human connection, the easier it's become.

First off, this may be one of my favorite episodes. I loved that it gave us something outside of the regular formula with the main characters, but yet it was still a character development that was paramount to the core story. We had an assassination attempt, a frienemy team-up, some insight into the coven leadership, some character growth and revelations from Hunter, and Eda and King committing a light felony for Luz. I'm really surprised that there was no retribution for the attempted assassination, since she even told Hunter when she didn't know who he was that he would answer for attacking a member of the royal guard. He may just be playing the long game on that one. I don't know what I would choose for a palisman if it wasn't choosing me. I would say a polar bear first, because I'm big and strong and LOVE the cold...though I DO prefer Pepsi over Coke -lol. It seems like it's usually a smaller creature, though. So, tactically, maybe a little golden dragon. You would definitely get some flight from that and any number of attacks that a dragon could achieve (fire, ice, electric, chemical, telepathic). Plus, she would look pretty good on the head of an ivory-coloured staff, with maybe a matching gold tip and another gold engraved band around the center. That dragon would be sitting in style! Lol
