Happy Holidays my fellow dweebs :)

Better late than never, and I finally made it to the party! I truly am so sorry this one took me so long to get around to. My schedule during training was jam-packed... when I wasn't studying or in class, I was touring apartments, planning my move, and catching up on some Z's.

But I am soooo excited I was able to get my reaction to you guys in time for Christmas! I hope you enjoyed the special as much as I did, and I am sending you all lots of holiday cheer from my new home in Dallas ❤️

I really liked this special, it felt like a Christmas Comedy Classic. (Solar Opposities Style Lol) Happy Holidays Alycia and everyone 🎄 🎁 🎁

In my opinion, I think in order for a movie to be a Christmas movie, I think it has to take place during or before Christmas Day . For Example The Polar Express (My favorite Christmas movie ever) has a lot of Christmas elements like Santa Claus, That holiday spirit carol, and Hot Chocolate Lol. That's what I think in my opinion.

DarkAshtar

I love they brought back the Harry Potter whistle. Now I don't think Nintendo does any kind of deal with them but Justin Roiland is a huge fan of Nintendo, his whole thing in Rick and Morty where Rick talks about buying a bunch of Legend of Zelda 3DSs is based off of something he actually did. In fact they even mentioned Nintendo in the first episode because Terry was wondering if Funbucket preferred Nintendo or Sega, which while that wouldn't be a big deal now since Sega is a 3rd party developer it would have been something from Justin Roiland's childhood since he and I are around the same age and that was a big thing from my youth.

I have had the "Is Die Hard a Christmas movie" discussion many times. Some friends have pointed out that he was only in Los Angeles because it was Christmas, so that means the holiday is a part of the plot. My personal stance is that him being there because it's Christmas is incidental. That part of the plot could easily be switched out for another holiday or event and it would not effect the overall story at all. Die Hard is a movie that HAPPENS to take place on Christmas, but it is not a Christmas movie to me. I believe a Christmas movie has to capture the expression or celebration of the holiday in some form. If Christmas isn't crucial to the overall plot it's not a Christmas movie. There IS a company Christmas party, but in name only. They could have just as easily been celebrating a huge company event and it wouldn't have seemed much different. If a character has a birthday during the day a movie takes place they don't call it a birthday movie. Anyway...lol, I'm so glad we finally got around to this special and just in time! I have been dying to watch it, but have been trying to hold off to watch it here. Well worth the wait. It was a lot of fun. For some reason, their vulgarity mixed with their holiday enthusiasm made it all seem just a little bit funnier than it usually would be. I normally save my Christmas viewings until right up to Christmas (except for Scrooged, which I will watch year 'round). This marks my official kick-off of holiday viewings. It's great to hear that you're finished with training and settling in. Everything's back on track :) Have a safe and happy holiday weekend! Thank you for being you.

Happy to hear you definitely got your job back 🤗 Maybe that takes a little bit of the sting out of being scammed 😅 Hearing that story made me want to give you a hug and some anime-style headpats 😄 I hope it wasn't too tragic, at least you're able to laugh about it kinda. The Christmas special was a lot of fun, so many crazy and funny things. Like you I was waiting for the switch on what the pupa's game was with that wholesome storyline. My guess the whole time was kinda that the pupa wants to go to Harry Potter Land at universal somehow, but the way less involved callback to the whistle was better hehe. Honestly I'm inclined to make a shirt out of Terry hopping on that reindeer that visual was so funny to me 🤣 Maybe I'll just make it my Patreon Avatar for the holidays lol. And now to watch The Owl House episode 7 reaction for the second time 😁 I love that fucking episode so much 😍 Edit: Btw Jingle all the Way in German is called "Versprochen ist Versprochen" which translates to "A promise is a promise". Ever since about 1950 all movies in Germany are dubbed if they are foreign movies and they also usually make up their own name for each movie or at least they did until the early 2000s but it probably hasn't changed. Not sure though I haven't watched German TV or Movies since like 2004, thank you internet. xD Although to be honest German dubbing is probably among if not the best in the world which is cool I guess but it also ruined any other dubs for me. Watching anything with English dubs usually makes me want to stab my ears out xD Anyways end of random facts/ramble...hehe

DarkAshtar

I will definitely say I would consider Gremlins much more of a Christmas movie than Die Hard.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Dweeb!!!!!!!!

I think it just depends on what you enjoy watching with your family. Muppets Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story (when it is and not a 24hrs of), and Christmas Vacation. Though we have switched it up, (Jingle All The Way was my favorite as a kid) over the years. We have watched Christmas Horror movies, but it's all just what gets in you the spirit, and if it's part of the story it's a Christmas movie. Fight Me Dweebs! (even though I have a purple belt please don't. It's Christmas!) So glad to hear you're doing well Al! Could not be happier for you! I hope you love living in Texas as much as all of my family and friends do! (Even though they mostly go back and forth between Austin and San Antonio lol) Stay safe while you fly over the place!

alyciadweeb

It's been so fun reading everyone's opinions on what makes a Christmas movie and I think your view aligns the most with my own!

alyciadweeb

Omg that's right I forget they're always bringing up Nintendo in Rick and Morty too 🤣 Gosh Justin Roiland is a legend I swear

alyciadweeb

Your break-down of Die Hard perfectly explains how I feel! It's been really fun reading everyone's opinions on what makes a Christmas movie and your views definitely align with mine!

alyciadweeb

And okay I'm freaking honored that you would wait to watch the special with me 😭 I honestly figured everyone would have already seen it but it's so cool to know there was someone out there watching it for the first time along with my video!

alyciadweeb

I really hope you had an awesome Christmas and that this new year brings you an abundance of career success. I know losing your job at Funko was a really tough hand and I relate to that so much after my furlough. Keep on keeping on and trust that good things are around the corner for you, even when it doesn't feel like it. I'm rooting for you <3

alyciadweeb

"Hearing that story made me want to give you a hug and some anime-style headpats 😄" LOL this gave me a good chuckle. A solid reaction to my misfortune lol!

alyciadweeb

And omg okay please make it a Dweebdom Christmas tradition to share German translations of English movies. That's amazing. Is there just not a word in German for "Jingle"??

alyciadweeb

English dubs are ROUGH, that's awesome that your language has such great dubbing!

alyciadweeb

Oh my gosh Muppets and It's a Wonderful Life are some solid picks. It's a Wonderful Life gets the tears going for me every time 😭 (Also that's cool that you have a purple belt! I never knew! Marco would be proud!)

alyciadweeb

Thank you so much for the kind words and support 🥺 I hope you had a very merry Christmas as well!

Hehe it actually took the rise of the internet for me to realize that it's not the norm for every movie to be dubbed in other countries. The funny thing is once I started watching original versions of movies I stumbled upon a lot of English movie titles that meant nothing to me only to realize later that I've watched it before but have only known it by the German name. Not sure if you know it as you are younger but I've watched "Cruel Intentions" a lot when I was younger but in German it's called "Eiskalte Engel" which translates to "Icecold Angels" or "Stone-Cold Angels" if you don't translate too literally, so it's understandable why I never knew that it's the same movie. There are multiple translations for Jingle but in the context of the movie it wouldn't make sense to translate it as the contextual and cultural meaning wouldn't make sense. That being said there are MANY titles where you could just translate the title but they just don't for weird reasons but instead come up with a whole different title that has NOTHING to do with the original title hehe. Oh yeah, and the dumbest thing is when they make up a new title but the new title is ALSO in English lol. Like "Tomorrowland" with George Clooney is called "A World beyond" in Germany. So dumb xD On a related note, "The Owl House" in German is called "Willkommen im Haus der Eulen" which translates to "Welcome to the House of Owls" xD I had to look it up because as I said I haven't watched German stuff in over 15 years. Ok one more from my youth which is kind of a classic. "She's all that" is called "Eine wie Keine" which translates to "One like no other", yes I love chick-flicks 😋 I think I'll add a weird stupid or funny German Movie title each week now with each new reaction I probably have enough for like 3 years lol.

First things first, happy holidays and congrats on officially getting your job back Alycia! And also congrats on getting your new apartment! It looks really nice from what we could see. I really enjoyed your reaction to this holiday special! IMO I believe movies that are themed around Christmas day should be considered Christmas movies. I could also relate to the getting scammed part of the episode aswell as I almost had my entire bank account drained by German scammers. Thankfully devine intervention stopped me from going through with it lolz. Also nice pants! Did your friend who works on designing clothes create them for you?

alyciadweeb

Zuluuuuu! Thank you so much for the kind words and I hope you’re having happy holidays as well! ☺️ I’m so glad you avoided your scam!! And my friend did make the pants 🤣 I genuinely forget I was wearing those in this video and got kind of embarrassed during the part where you can blatantly see “dweeb” across my bum 🙈 But I freaking love wearing those pants around the house- they’re my go to comfort pants!

Anonymous

You're very welcome queen! And thank you, so am I lol. No need to be embarrased Alycia, it happens hehe ^_^ Yeah those pants are totally YOU hehe. So Dallas is going to be your official home?

alyciadweeb

Yeah! Yeehaw lol! American flies everywhere out of DFW so I’ll get trips all around the world here 😍

Anonymous

That's amazing! Sounds like the best job in the world to me ^_^

Anonymous

Thank you, Alycia. That seriously means a lot. Most of the people in my life basically reacted like, "Oh, well. It's just a job. Move on", but it was so much more than that to me and I couldn't get them to understand. For now, it's back to just working to pay the bills, but I really hope I can manifest something else that makes me feel fulfilled. I'm just trying to focus on the positives and spend my free time being creative. I always wait to watch anything new with your reactions. It's just more fun that way! Especially since I'm still hesitant to have anyone over to actually something with. Lol I hope you have a fun and safe New Year's Eve.

alyciadweeb

That resonates with me so deeply. I felt like a lost a part of my identity when I stopped worked for American so I absolutely get it that it’s more than a job. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t other places out there for you that will make you feel that same way again. And who knows- maybe this opportunity to work on your own creative ventures will turn into something even better than you could have imagined! I know I’m forever the optimist, but I like to think it’s true lol! I’m proud of you and keep on keeping on until you find something you love my friend.
