So my public Invincible reactions aren't scheduled to start until next week... but I got around to filming earlier than I thought and really wanted to do something nice for you watch- along dweebs. Here's my reaction to S01 E01 of Invincible- one week early!

I'd ideally love for you guys to ALWAYS have access to my reactions 1 week early, but sometimes with my schedule that just doesn't happen. But I want to try my hardest to get reactions to you earlier because... well... I feel like you guys just deserve it, damn it! 🤣

I had a feeling you would like it. mostly because I also I'm not a big fan of gore especially if there is no need for it, but this show's gory stuff kinda just adds more to the story which is what makes it great

⭐🦋 Glad you liked it, the mystery there at the end of "why" was what hooked me too. But, you did learn a bit of a hard lesson there ... Alycia, with 10 minutes left, "where's the violence?" The show: "Be careful what you wish for, hold my beer."

I think what makes this show considered so dark, is that it actually portays gore and death as sad, which a lot of animated shows don't really do, like Rick and Morty has more fun with it. But besides hot depressing it can be, it has a lot of heart, interesting dynamics and bits of comedy I thought you'd really like. K didn't know anything about it going in so that end shocked me to my core, lol.

I knew you'd love it, Mark will grow as the show goes on, it was the same in the comics. Although to be honest the timeline of the show is speeded up quite a bit. If it were to be done comic accurate the killing of the guardians would have been at the end of either season 1 or 2. Instead they gave the show an amazing opening episode. Pacing between writing and TV or film is really difficult, but Invincible is a show that has made changes to the comics that are surprisingly good. Like I told you, I think you'll handle it well, the story is what's great about Invincible.

Omg what a pleasant surprise! I actually heard about this show a while back and never got around to it, so now I have the perfect excuse to see it!

So, this comment is gonna go a little differently than I expected. I have watched the first episode previously and only the first episode and last time I watched it I enjoyed it way less than this time around. I knew nothing about the show I've only heard and seen a bunch of comments that it's supposed to be great. But honestly the first time I was thinking about turning it off for most of the episode because I was like either this is the most generic boring shit or there is gonna be an insane twist coming. And the like late 70s early 80s animation style didn't really help things. But fortunately I barely ever turn off a show or movie before the end because I want to give the creators a chance to tell the story the way they envisioned and that might include lulling us into a false sense of security for like 40 minutes 😁. So when Omni Man went nuts and killed everybody it was a complete surprise and it really hits different when you have NO idea it's coming. I was a little sad that people semi-spoiled it for you because it's way different when you have no idea. That being said I understand the impulse because it's such a departure from the shows you usually watch and you're such a great person so I guess it's kinda natural to feel protective to a certain degree because all we know so far is how you react to cute and funny shows and that the Summerween Candy Monster on Gravity Falls freaked you out 😃 So people might be forgiven for thinking maybe this is a little much hehe but you showed them! 👑😏 Watching it this time I guess I was more in a fitting mindset to enjoy this show compared to last time or it was the excitement of watching it with you or knowing that there is a payoff at the end, however horrible it might be. And I feel like you took the ending exactly how it was meant...it's supposed to be devastating and you didn't concentrate on the gore but rather see the brutality as an extension of the emotional impact the scene is supposed to have, at least that's how I took it and it seemed like so did you. 🙂 Like I said I've only seen the first episode so I have no idea whats coming up so..predictions. For some reason my first thought was "Maybe he's killing them all because his son has his powers now and maybe he thinks he won't have enough to do if there are a whole bunch of other heroes running around" which is a crazy thought to have lol. And then I thought maybe that species feeds on like adoration or helping people or whatever so that they actually biologically need that and he makes sure his son will get enough of that without the other heroes. I'm sure this is completely wrong but I found it quite amusing that that's where my mind went immediately lol because it's such a weird and convoluted thing. 🤣 Then again I guess my mind couldn't fathom a more logical reason why he would have done that so it went to a crazy place. I guess he could be mindcontrolled or whatever but that would be so boring that I just dismissed it out of hand. Ok enough wall of text, I just had way more to say about it than I expected lol. I knew you'd like that twist ending lolz. Yeah I wasn't exactly stoked on Marks character either in the first few episodes but he will grow on you later on =)Yeah that ending is what got me hooked on the show too! That Robert Kirkman sure knows how to get the viewers attention! It gets way more bloodier after that cliffhanger trust me lol. Hey Alycia, did you ever see my comment on your Rick and Morty Episode 9 reaction video? I posted a comment about how you were totally right about the season getting better after the less than perfect start to it. Did it get deleted by mistake maybe?

Yeah it's such an interesting contrast to the way Rick and Morty and honestly most adult cartoons handle their violence. And I really like that although this show explores dark subjects and has that gore, it doesn't feel like a *heavy* show. I think that's more of what I was worried about going into it. You're right that it has a lot of heart and I think it does a great job balancing serious scenes with fun moment

Oooh I was wondering if the timing was handled differently in the comics! I was actually thinking to myself today that I thought the OmniMan betrayal would have been an incredible season ender... but you're totally right that TV writing is different and I guess they needed something big to keep viewers hooked! ... Which they succeeded in lol

It's so interesting hearing about your experience watching the first episode VS mine! I think I would have felt the same way you did... the first 3/4 was pretty underwhelming despite having some fun moments. But knowing there was something super intense coming had me on the edge of my seat the entire episode lol! That's cool that you sort of got to re-experience the episode with me, knowing the crazy parts were coming!

Oooh I like the idea that their species feeds on adoration! Even if that's not it (which honestly I don't think it's that far of a stretch since both Omni-man and Mark are quite ego- driven imo) , that would still be a cool concept for a comic!!

I saw the one about you wanting to watch the finale and Invincible together but then I don't have any more comments from you after that... :/ Anyways, I'm sorry about that AND I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the finale episodes so much :D I was so pleased to see they went out with a (literal) bang!

Yup, but I’ll tell you one thing. There will be a character that you’ll definitely not care very much for as the season goes forward and it isn’t Omni-man lolz. Oh and good luck editing these long episodes, I know it’s going to take some time to chop it up without missing too many important scenes. (Random question alert) what kind of camera do you use to film your reactions? The picture is super clear! I’m sure that must’ve cost a pretty penny. =P

Maybe it's not THAT far fetched but maybe it's also a bit of the cynic in me that has a hard time thinking that a whole species leaves their planet on their own when they get their powers just to each help a planet out of pure altruism 😅. Plus Omni Man always has this smug look on his face when he arrived at a scene with other heroes like he was thinking, aw that's adorable what you're trying to do but now I'm here and I got this.

I appreciate you! Yeah the editing definitely takes longer on these ones, but that's okay :) Totally worth it! And I actually just film on my iphone XR lol! But I have a halo light and natural light from my window so I think that helps make the picture look better quality. I've debated on getting a camera before but figured for the content I'm making it's probably not necessary. I'm glad to hear you think the vids look good and clear!

You my queen are a trooper! So glad I came across such a beautiful person inside and out! The 10$ tier is definetely worth it! ^_^. Wow really??? I guess Iphones are as good as people say they are. Keep up the good work Queen! =D Oh and just a heads up, these next few episodes aren't going to be too exciting as it will entail a lot of character devolpment for new characters. But the story is still enticing none the less! ^_^

For a first episode this was not half bad at all! I liked the animation in all the fights and I think it did a pretty good job of developing the more important characters with solid writing! Other than that I must agree that the insane end of this episode is what really got me invested! The superhero origin story has been done like a million different times at this point in every possible format, so taking that into account this was totally fine. I get it’s important to see the characters progression in order to feel like they earned their eventual triumph but I feel like this story has a lot of other interesting stuff going on too, stuff that I would’ve liked to see more screen time dedicated too if I’m honest. Especially all those heroes who died at the end, I feel like that would’ve been so much more shocking if we’d really solidified them as individuals and maybe gotten a bit more time with some of them. I would say the same for Omni-Man but I think they intentionally didn’t build too much on him in order to maximise the effectiveness of that ending sequence. It really does make you wonder why he did that though doesn’t it? He seemed like a really good and kind person with his wife and son, and before that ending he seemed to want to use his power for good. When he spoke of where he originally came from to Mark, he mentioned something along the lines of being sent to earth to be it’s sole protector. My best guess is that he doesn’t want other heroes doing the work his whole life’s purpose is centred around, he believes he should be the only person defending earth and anyone else trying to get in the way of his mission must die...? Idk that’s all I could come up with😅 either way this was a solid pilot and I’m excited to watch more with you mate! How was your weekend did you do anything nice?✨

I guess Dark said that in the comics, Omniman doesn't kill the OG heroes until the end of the 1st series! I think that build- up would have been great but it makes sense they cut to the chase for a television audience. And your predictions on Omniman's motive aligns a lot with Weswyn's! Maybe you guys are onto something... I was able to make it to the beach with some friends this weekend so that was definitely a treat! And much needed to be honest, I've been spending way to much time inside and getting stir crazy lol. What have you been up to!?

Oh man I love the beachh, if I had a beach nearby I’d be there as much as humanly possible lol! I’m glad you’re finding time to chill mate I bet that was a lovely day out✨ My weekend was great, I met up with some friends who I haven’t seen in forever and they took me to this place called Junkyard Golf which is basically just putt-putt with a bar so you get more and more drunk/bad at putting as you go, truly a marvel of the modern age and so much fun, I had a blast✨😂
