Yeah. I was kind of suspecting that if Grace was having a redemption arc, Simon would turn darker. Didn't suspect Grace wasn't human. Anyway, Happy Holidays to all, hope Santa is good to you. (Wouldn't a Christmas Car be a cool thing right about now? Im tearing up my letter to Santa and addressing it to One-One!

Please have empathy for SImon. He did what was expected of him. And no, that "no" from Grace is not sufficient, it was too vague and open to interpretation. At no point Grace honestly told Simon that paradigm under which they operated for 8 years is gone. Maybe he would agree or maybe he would fight, that for sure was a risk. But she didn't take that risk so he didn't have the opporunity to choose. And he is a good soldier, and good soldier understand the spirit of orders and spots and exploits opportunity to achive the goal. Plan was still in place for him - get rid of Tuba, by any means possible. I have no doubt that Tuba was not the first null that they killed. Both of them. Difference between Grace in Simon is that Grace has maternal side to her and in situation they are in that was enough to pierce through her believes. Simon does not have that (and yes male can be "maternal" as well), in fact he is rather low on empathy overall. But those are so fundamental aspects of one personality that they are beyond conscious choice. He is who he is and he can't give more than that. If the situation was different, it might be that SImons qualities would force him to change, not Grace. But that would be a different story. And for me, first time spending Christmas alone, my family is in Poland and Germany but I am stuck in Switzerland. To many restrictions to travel and I had only 2 spare holiday days left anyway.

I really love the way that you view Simon. I had a hard time moving past my negative emotions towards him, even up until the very end of the season (I've filmed all my reactions, just editing them now). But looking back, I absolutely see your point too. He was HEAVILY manipulated and just doing what he really believed in his mind to be right. This show has so much to say from a psychological standpoint (this season in particular) and I love it. Do me a favor and remind me to circle back to this convo with you after the finale. There's a specific moment with Simon that I didn't mention in my review but has really stuck with me since watching.
