I think I’m set to enjoy this season of IT quite a bit. That opening sequence with Mirror Tulip traveling through all the different cars and all the beautiful animation and music gave me such a feeling of peace. The train really does feel like a much friendlier place with One-one in charge. Also, I was wondering how they would create stakes and conflict this season with One-one the conductor, I assume we will see more social takes and interpersonal drama with two major characters on screen, but I like the Flecs (they’re both intimidating and hilarious) and I have a feeling we will be seeing Amelia at some point this season too (although in what context I’m not sure). I enjoy this season’s headlining characters so far as well. They are quite different—possibly foils—and will serve as excellent sources of development as they grow together, probably becoming more like each other. I see Jesse becoming less of a compulsive people-pleaser, and Mirror Tulip becoming more amiable and open to companionship. Although, I am not sure what Mirror Tulip’s motivation is going to be. Sure she has experienced identity trauma and is being ruthlessly pursued by the unholy offspring of the Terminator and a belt sander, but so far it doesn’t feel like there is a destination for her in mind. She isn’t a passenger, so her goal isn’t the standard “escape the train,” which I think actually creates a broader field of narrative possibility that I’m excited to see the writers explore. On another note, Jesse is like a jock version of Mable!!! I first noticed it when he named the deer so many different things and settled on Allen Dracula😂😂😂 I think I’m biased to like him because of that reason. I’m a big fan of Allen Dracula, but I feel like a chance was missed in not calling him the “Deermeleon.” Also, the family tree car might be my new favorite! Not the talking wood faces part, but the canopy with the beautiful fall colors and magic wildlife. I’ve lived my whole life in California (aside from traveling), so I’ve never experienced true seasons, and I think I’d really love to see fall happen for real some day.

Negative One always makes me think of the android from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Marvin. Portrayed in the movie by Alan Rickman, though I am more familiar with the novels.
