I liked these 2 episodes A LOT. They both progressed major plot points in the show (A being Star's powers and her relationship with Eclipsa, and B having Marco realize he's in love with Star... Can I get a DUH!?)

Also... I'm not so sure what was going on with my hair there towards the end LOL!

Alright, hard hitting question: which do you like more, Gravity Falls or Star?

This IS a hard-hitting question! Okay, so my thing about Gravity Falls is that it ended SO PERFECTLY. I think I'll have to wait until I see how Star plays out to make that decision. They both have very different, but equally wonderful characters that are well-developed, and I enjoy the quirkiness of both too. Do you have a favorite!?

I have to say that the maturity of the subjects they routinely tackle are astounding. So many cartoons are afraid to wade into the "deep waters" as it were, but SvtFoE just throws itself right off the end of the pier and dives right in. Lava Lake Beach is such a phenomenal episode for something that always makes me a little misty when I watch it. It covers a multitude of topics, from the risk of losing your own identity by wrapping your existence too tightly up with another, to the physical pain one can experience with a sundered heart. I'm sure most viewers have had serious relationships end in their lives and can relate that it can be almost overwhelming at times. But of course, the show also shows us that the journey to find oneself after becoming single is so important. To take those things you love about life and reinvent them to make them yours again.

I'm also love the way they mirrored Just friends with Marco's ground shaking (insert eye-roll) realization that he's madly in love with Star. I suppose he couldn't see the forest for the the trees, as he was too close to the situation to have any meaningful perspective. Regardless, now we have both protagonists with feelings for each other and Tom completely unaware. Star may be with Tom for now, but love is a fickle thing and I think we'll be seeing a return of romantic tension before too long.
