Animation Sketches (Patreon)

Happy Thursday, everyone!

This would normally be sketchbook content but I wanted to share something for both tiers today that's a little out of the ordinary. Lately when I haven't known what to do but wanted to occupy my mind I've been trying to animate in CSP.

This first one feels to me like a little character intro segment out of an anime title sequence and I think it's cute :3

I like making these animation sketches because they help me build confidence in the medium. I used to work in animation, although I was primarily doing After Effects/motion graphics work, but I would savor opportunities when I got to draw something and make it move.

Part of my creative process (which I absolutely hate) is to fight perfectionism by making lots of little things that I am not proud of in order to build toward something I am proud of.

It might sound like self-deprecation but basically everything I make, no matter how pleased with it I am, I think is less than I am capable of.  

When I try to make things that reach that internal standard I get demoralized and give up before I finish them, so I have tried to accept that making art for me is the process of accepting less in order to stick with the process long enough to actually grow.


Having a sense of obligation to complete things by sharing  it with you all is also a crucial part of that process for me. My own quirky brain really needs to know someone is expecting me to show up and make new things :)❤️💞
