I'm still having fun with this stuff. I don't know that much about Greeks and Amazons except that they fought, but I do adore the color palettes of greek pottery. Gonna have to do more research if I'm going to do an earnest project about them but I am also kind of fond of work that is made in a liiittle bit of ignorance? I feel like sometimes not fully understanding something  lets me play with the rules in a more lax way that arrives at interesting new ideas.

I'm also not above stealing aesthetics for my own purposes 😈I like how even the distortion of the cylindrical format of these vessels applies a kinda compositional pressure that squeezes my figures together a little bit.

Mostly i think the thing that makes these vases so sexy is this rich lacquer black that is just so hot. There's a kind of red undertone to it that makes it look like it'd almost be hot to  the touch, which of course gives me so many ideas of how to apply it for my own purposes.

Also, I accidentally inverted my mask of the black around the figures and it made for a pretty provocative silhouette I thought. :)

If you want to get a bit of a feel for ancient Greece, you could try checking out some of Aristophanes' plays? They're relatively short but should give you some texture on the social world and preoccupations of people of the era without committing to too much research.

Huuuge fan of the Greek art!

Aaah, I love this! The details are stunning yet again, and I totally get what you mean by liking the aesthetic 😊 Maybe you want to look into Attis and Kybele - it's a bit effed up, but maybe you can make something out of it! Or Tiresias, I think this one could turn into something interesting in your hands :3
