October Report (Patreon)

Thank you all for your support during this kinda soul-searchy month. It's interesting getting away from a regular comic because I'm so used to having a consistent task to focus on. I think that's creatively and productively when I'm at my best--when I have a list of things to do and then I can have some other little distractions on the side to pursue. So for November I think I'm going to spend more time on small sketchy things, hikers and the like, and also put some time into more polished pinup illustrations, since I'm kinda pleased with the way those turned out this month. Here's a recap, because my memory is so short term and fried right now!

Bayonetta pinup! This happened pretty early in the month!

I benefited a lot from having some consistent palette to play with.  Witches may be moving out of season (but are they ever really out of season?) but I think this palette is flexible enough that I'll keep playing with it.

I had been struggling with direction all month and then just a little bit of self indulgent sketching of witches suddenly unlocked something and I was enjoying drawing again.

I'm ashamed of how little I've used my ipad for sketching lately. I plan to do more drawing on the couch, away from my desk this month because I think it will suit my more flighty mood. 

Finally this Castlevania Trevor X  Sypha illustration! I didn't expect it to be a fully painted image when I started, but the style kinda just fit and I wanted to keep going. 

I missed recording a Bayonetta timelapse because I made that in Photoshop-- still my comfort program, but I am feeling more comfortable in CSP all the time. I don't know if I'll ever truly like digital painting without a keyboard for hotkeys but I can make it work on ipad!

Thank you all so much for the support this past month! I feel like the perpetual state of an artist is being displeased with their output so I won't harp on too much about it. Just know that I took note of all your suggestions from this past month and I'll keep them all in front of me so I never lack ideas  of things to draw this month. 

I think I'll pick some ideas to throw into a poll, just so there's more patron involvement too, so stay tuned for that!
