Valkyrie - Apex Legends (Patreon)

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I'm kinda crunching on a freelance deadline so there's not been a lot of updates so far this month, apologies for that, I hate when I don't have updates for like a whole week. I should be freed up by the end of this week and have new roughs for Pine & Ivy.

I really enjoyed this suggestion-- I've always kinda liked the art direction for Apex-- and while I don't play it it's fun to look at how someone else has played with the same influences that I have. There's a lot of retro sensibilities in Apex, I feel.

Valkyrie is such a nice color palette too--even though I knocked her down to just two colors. :) I'm still playing around in CSP, that's what this was drawn in. I kinda like how it allows me to forget about a lot of the Photoshop brushes I've drawn with forever and just pick a random thing to draw with and see what comes out.

There's a fun combo of brushes happening here which I might keep exploring. It's a sharp blotty ink brush, combined with a pretty textured charcoal pencil lookin thing. It reminds me of some comic artists I've seen who have real clean ink lines and also use a grease pencil or china marker on top to add that gritty texture. I love it.
