It always starts with the thumbnails. I probably spent an hour and a half just scribbling out these little 1"x2" drawings just to try to figure out the flow of the compositions and the choreography of the scene.

I don't do a ton of writing beforehand since there's no dialog so it's kinda just trying to figure out how I can get two characters to play in the environment. I'm really excited about the potential for the waterfall with Zelda, I'm going to have a lot of fun drawing lots of dripping wetness :) I've worked out the story to wrap up at 28 pages!

They don't look like much, and you can see the parts where the pages of my moleskine got pale from where I erased repeatedly. I have a background in animation before doing comics so I tend to approach things from the stand point of editing footage, where you try to show something beginning to happen before a cut so that in the next shot your viewer is mentally prepared to understand what's happening.

As a result I tend to focus a lot on making poses that flow into one another and putting in gestures that clue the viewer into where a character is moving between the panels.

At the end of the day i don't know if these compositions are necessarily very Bilibin/Dulac esque,  because they are all very closely framed so you can see the juicy details, but I hope you'll forgive the conceit. I think if Dulac made porn it would be very beautiful, but not as physical and weightyas the way I make pictures today.

Thank you all for the support! Stay tuned for more updates!
