Quick tip tutorial: Drapery and Composition (Patreon)

Drapery, clothing can really save your ass when you have a constricting composition in a comic or illustration.  

With this I tried to give myself a narrow composition with a lot of foreshortening to demonstrate how the drapery can help make those moments feel dimensional without changing the pose.

This is one of the reasons why I love drawing partially clothed figures, (besides that half naked people are hot) the clothes can really help make your drawing more dimensional and volumetric.

The truth is that you don't NEED drapery in order to be able to communicate these ideas, you can just put stray lines in that describe the form and volume, but clothing gives an excuse for those lines to be there.

I'll talk more in the future about other ways to solve tricky anatomical moments by guiding the viewer's eye with your lines.
