I think with regards to lagging behind comment, he was talking about the current xg members that weren’t good enough in dancing at the time—chisa, juria, and maya. He was talking about looking back now 3 of the 7 members were sent home during the first korean training camp when he said that comment so. :) though when he was talking to them outside, i think he did just send maju home ‘cause they already decided that those who doesn’t get picked unfortunately won’t be able to participate too, along with the 3rd place team. Jurin could have picked her but they chose to stay a 4-member group, which he couldn’t have known about beforehand, tbf. Haha.

I personally think Simon didn't allow Maju to participate in missions because she showed a lack of leadership/teamwork by removing herself from her team. She was upset that she had to do the missions with low ranking members and wanted to be picked up by a better group but she was only thinking of herself because obviously the other members needed her. I don't think the other members kicked her out because she was their best shot at ranking higher but maybe they felt bad for holding her back so they allowed her to take herself out. I don't blame Maju because she just wanted to survive but these kind of stressful situations were created by Simon to specifically weed out members that would put themselves first over the whole team.

I think even if Simon had let Maju back into the mission, at the end of the day Maju left her group for whatever reason and neither of the groups wanted to pick her, so to me Maju took a risk that didn’t work in her favor and it would be a little unfair to override the decision of the trainees themselves.

Yeah I think Maju picking herself to leave her own group showed lack of leadership ability that left a sour taste in the rest of the trainees. It's almost like she abandoned her teammates, probably why nobody picked her up.

So Maju was kicked out because Simon want people who put the team before anything else. Here Maju put herself out because she was better than the others. And she didnt stay in her team to help the others to be better. Simon doesnt want this kind of " selfish " mentality in the group. As he said. Team mentality before anything else.

Beyond testing to see if they had the character to deal with training and performance schedules etc etc, I think Simon was always also considering personality in terms of variety and reality content. Rewatching now it's crazy to see Maju's downfall but it's clear that her super relatable reactions lacked the joyful heroism the members always show.
