MK Goodness

being vague about it: Lee Ga Eun is a victim of mnet, and she's not the first and wont be the last before it got found out and delt with legally.

I think you should know that there was a pretty major scandal over Gaeun and another girl not getting in the group. It's still an enjoyable watch and I love Iz*one to death but don't put any stock in the vote totals

On the elimination rounds, you should stick to the end of the episode to see the girls say goodbye to each other.

cgl0304

as far as im aware the votes were only rigged at the end, but i might be wrong.

Seconded. They definitely missed some touching parts. These girls made some life-long friendships; I count this whole series as traumatic bonding for them lol.

One thing that people forget about the voting is that each round the rules change. So at the beginning you can vote for a lot more people than at the end. So inevitably, rigging aside, that changes drastically the rankings. Being a popular 3rd or 4th choice means nothing later in the show. I both think that the rigging was less impactful than people think (early on) and that at the end the show was completely rigged to build the best possible team around Sakura and Wonyoung. But at the beginning Produce didn't know who was going to be the stars or the look of the team so they had no incentive to rig voting early on except for drama purposes. Hitomi was panicking because she was not popular back in Japan. She basically auditioned for Produce as a last chance to make herself popular. So to instantly become a favorite of the show really threw her. It took her a bit to adjust to the reality that she was as popular as someone like Nako in Korea. Regarding Yena and Everglow... apparently, its rumored, she was offered to join after Iz*One and she turned it down saying that she was already a member of a group, Iz*One. She, I think more than any of the members besides Eunbi, felt the most satisfied with Iz*One as their group career. I'd have loved to see her go join Le Sserafim or join Everglow and don't judge the other members that wanted more than 2.5 years for their girl group career. But Yena always talks about how special Iz*One was to her and that she didn't feel she could replicate that again.

There was a huge scandal with mnet and the produce series. The production went through police investigation and was sued. It turned out there were votes/ranking manipulation. It was officially revealed after the court case ended and the producers were convicted. Only the members who were supposed to be in the final group were revealed, and not who shoud not be in the group. Kang Dongho should be in Wanna one (1 member in season 2) Gaeun (Pledis, supposed to be 5th) and Chowon(Cube, supposively 6th place) should be in Izone (2 members) and multiple members were wrongfully eliminated throughout the show in season 4 (when the whole thing came out) and 3 members were wrongly eliminated in the finale: Jungmo 6th, Jinhyuk 7th and Donghyun 8th. Because of that the whole group X1 was unfortunately disbanded after just one debut album. sorry for my english

I.O.I was the only Produce group that wasn't rigged. Unfortunately the final lineup in Pd48 was rigged too (this isn't a rumor btw it was confirmed by a lawsuit). Izone even had to go on a hiatus for 3 months when they were at their peak (Fiesta era, their first full album was about to be released when the news broke). But please keep in mind that the girls that got into the group knew nothing about this so they were victims as well. My guess is that they rigged Gaeun out bc she didn't fit the image of the final group... I'm still bitter about the hiatus bc they only had 2.5 years to promote and 3 months of it was just radio silence. And when they came back from the hiatus, covid happened :( But despite all of these inconveniences they're still one of the most succesful kpop ggs of all time.

They confirmed in the lawsuit that Gaeun and Chowon were rigged out of the final group. They never told us who was rigged in (or even the actual REAL rankings of the full top 12)

It’s not much of spoiler but the main reason Yiren didn’t make the group is because she’s Chinese. Not in a xenophobic way but that this is a collaboration between Korean companies and the Japanese 48 groups. KNETZ realized voting for Yiren would take away a spot from a Korean or Japanese trainee. The fall comes after this episode once people saw her in the Top 12.

What happens to Miyu throughout the show (even in her personal life) SUCKS. And then everything post-show too. In an alternate timeline, she’s in BILLLIE (she was in the trainee lineup)

I think everyone gave a bit of insights already with the rigging lawsuit and all. As much as the people loved Lee Kaeun (Gaeun) and how good she was then, she just didn't fit the overall image the producers were trying to construct for Iz*One. She was also older than a lot of them.

DuckYena

Thankfully they never disclosed that. Can you imagine the crap that member would get for something that was not their fault.

DuckYena

Yeah if you build from Sakura and Wonyoung the group makes total sense.
