ahhh this was such a fun ride, ive never seen the show before even though literally everyone was talking about it during highschool 😅 so it was great to see it for the first time w you guys! a few fun facts(?) i would like to point out are 1.da hee (the mc) did look happy when she saw the envelope because she is an actual moomoo, she said multiple times that she loves mamamoo and there are several clips of her hugging moonbyul on different music shows :) 2. lion was an absolute hit in korea, like, every single school dance club covered them. everyone sang it in kareoke. i knew every lyric when i didnt even watch the show, and most everyone saw the queendom stage even if they hadnt seen the MV. 3. on a more somber note, during the final minutes of the voting (in the live audience) people kept saying to not vote for mamamoo which was very... not good. i feel like the show brought a lot of ggs together but a portion of the fans were really toxic to each other (ex. hating on kei just because hwasa picked her instead of minnie) 4. they did try to evil edit, esp with soyeon (you can see it in the bus going to the workshop, they highlight her simple gestures towards yuqi) but yeah everyone was just too wholesome that they failed miserably 🙃 // on a different note, destiny (direct translation of the korean title - "in the end, we were destined to meet again") is such a good song and i love the lyrics so much. for example, moon's rap - "we met in too big of a ocean anyways, i'll try to be happy with the fact that i was able to get a moments respite from the rough waves. this song is from my story, i hope that one day. in this place, i'll be here. you'll be here. for now, just go your own way." i love that it's about letting someone go with the faint hope of meeting them again, if destiny wills it. live stages of destiny are defs a must, theres a really epic stage and since its hip era, their styling is top tier :)) + looking forward to battle trip now that my weekly dose of queendom is over!

I've watched this before, but I really enjoyed seeing it with you both. When you go to put Destiny on your playlist, there are 3 versions. The one from Reality in Black has a much shorter "I can wait forever" section. The one on I Say Mamamoo, The Best is the Queendom version. They also did a version on the WAW album that is much more melancholy and is missing the final affirmantion (which scared me at the time). Still good, but not my favorite. One nice thing about this watch through is knowing the bullying accusations against Jimin were false. Made it much easier to just enjoy her.

Ah, I'm gonna miss these reactions. It's amazing how MNET took Queendom 1, a program much loved by many loyal fans, and without understanding the reason for its success diminished all its positive aspects and enhanced the negative ones when making Queendom 2 (all MNET, no the girls fault). This program also shows, in my opinion, how more powerful certain girl groups would be if their agencies allowed them more creative power.

It's been a fabulous time re-living Queendom with you both. The first season was just such a pleasant wholesome way to fall in love with every single team. Watching Kess in particular fall for Oh My Girl has been the highlight for me, as they are my absolute favourite group and Queendom was how I started to fall for them. Han you were also right with Yubin using the stage name "Binnie",however, as of 2022 she has changed her stage name to simply be "Yubin". When Queendom season 2 was being advertised, MNET were advertising the show as "Who will be the next Oh My Girl?" as the show was such a big breakout moment for the group. Since then Oh My Girl are very much a staple in Korea, they chart well and are seen on many many national TV shows, dramas, variety, reality you name it. However, they have not broken into the West in the same way that many of the biggest groups have. The final round of songs were all fantastic in my opinion, and Mamamoo absolutely desrve their win, Destiny is a gorgeous song and getting the crowd involved at the end looks like it would have been so much fun! Thank you both for watching, and I look forward to seeing the next show!

Yay! You guys should do a dedicated reaction for the cb show since you're big Mamamoo fans. All in all, very happy to see you guys finish. Queendom 1 was such a good show, where all the groups shined and every group had an increase in popularity because of what they showed during that stage... especially Oh My Girl, who broke out as one of the top girl groups. For (G)-IDLE... I think their time on QD really solidified why they were such a hyped girl group that swept Rookie of the Year awards in 2018. ---- "LION" was such a huge hit. Only song to get a MV and live stages at year-end shows. More Youtube views than all the other stages put together (before hackers deleted a bunch of MNet's videos). It even scored a KOMCA nomination. ---- To date, in my opinion, Idle's three greatest songs are Lion, Hwaa, and Tomboy... (debatable, because picking three is hard). But I would argue for Lion because it is so representative of the group's style and image... it's OT6... and, while I don't place a huge importance on line distribution, this one probably has the best line distribution in their discography. Soyeon's rap, Minnie's powerful high note are two of their best moments in their career. ---- Soyeon's explanation about the member's supporting her, dates back to debut. At debut, Cube didn't have a title track for them, so Soyeon wrote "Latata." She got a lot of pushback for being a female, but it was the Idle members who encouraged her that Latata was good and to submit the song for review. She was so nervous for it to do well, because a debut song is everything for a group, but fortunately, it did do well. The members have always trusted Soyeon, and Soyeon gets so much of her confidence from them. ---- SHUHUA. Shuhua was often criticized for being the least talented member of Idle. But she's always been steadily improving, and she finally exploded out in Tomboy & Nxde. At the time, this was a huge moment for her to get that intro stage. Soyeon has said multiple times that Shuhua's visual best represents Idle... When you look at her... she's like... a woman you've never seen before. ---- Now you guys can watch the MV. And I think you can watch Secret Folder, which I think is their best variety show.

Ha. You're not the only ones that fell in love with Oh My Girl after Queendom. They got the biggest boost after the show. Nonstop, one of their best, stayed on the Gaon/Circle chart forever and peaked at #2. Their b-side Dolphin stayed top 10 simultaneously - maybe has an even longer chart run. Then they released another mini and got a #1 with Dun Dun Dance. Oh, and OMG debuted less than a year after Mamamoo so yeah while they serve youthful and fresh, they were vets by then. ---- Lion was critically acclaimed for Idle and had a big resurgence. I think it's the most successful single of the Queendom releases.

Madelion

You're correct about Dolphins charting success. It was for a while the longest charting girl group song in Melon history at 546 days. Brave Girls Rollin' was what eventually overtook it last year

well that was an amazing ride :') i've been a moomoo for ~10 months now and i've never watched queendom so i saw it the first time with you guys (except for the mamamoo stages) i was genuinely surprised by how much i liked the other groups, especially idle and oh my girl were really good !! idle's stages were absolutely insane, can't believe they were only rookies there, wow!! mamamoo :') i don't know any other artists as talented, passionate, kind and supportive of each other as them. every single time they appeared on stage, they took my breath away. from decalcomanie, one of their most iconic songs to date, through good luck, where they had a whole mini concert, and i miss you, which had the whole nation, everyone watching at home and of course ME in tears, there are a lot of amazing vocalists, but mamamoo compliments each other like no one else. and destiny is truly one of their best songs, both lyrically and performance wise. no other group ever interacted with the audience but once again mmm had an entire concert in the 4 minutes they were given. outstanding artists, they are. and to think destiny is a b-side :') it was so beautiful to watch these silly shy girls warm up to the other groups and to have wheein at the end <3 they deserved that win. many said that they only won bc of popularity but this was before they released hip, and of course they were well-known but still, it was before they peaked + hello. why do they think mamamoo was so popular??? they had 0 promo from rbw and won the hearts of millions with their pure talent. there will never be anyone like mamamoo. i'm so proud of them and to call myself a moomoo. <3

I think that if they ever have a Queendom 3, Dreamcatcher and Weki Meki have to be a part of it. For the newbie girl group...I'd say either Le Sserafim or Fifty Fifty.

2023-04-04 07:08:57 Agree completely on DC &/or WM! Also maybe Fromis, Chebul, Rocket Punch or Dreamnote (maybe 2-4 from that group). For vets I’d love to see Apink! As for newer groups…don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Le_Sserafim! Their stages are remarkable….they’re 1 of the best 4th gen groups with regards to performance & stage presence! Having said that I think they’re WAY too popular! They’d dominate & it likely wouldn’t even be close! I think 2-3 of H1-key, Woo!ah!, Tri.be, Pixy, Cignature, Lightsum or maybe even Purki! Lots of choices…..either way, now I’m excited for Q3! 🤣

You have a point about Le Sserafim. Seeing Pixy or Fromis_9 would be good, and definitely APink.

Last I checked, Mnet was gonna spinoff instead and do Queendom Puzzles, to be more of a mix and match collab type of show, similar in format to the 3rd round performance units. I haven't heard anything recently... Entirely possible that Prime Show IS that show. But yeah... I really think Fromis_9 would've been good to have on Queendom 2, and they'd be great for a QD3. I think StayC would be a good choice. I think they're steadily rising and growing more popular.
