Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you know of a little change in how Patreon will bill new subscribers from now on. It has given us creators the possibility to opt in to a new method where Patrons get billed on the day they signed up and not on the 1st of the month.

The original way has been that you get billed the moment you sign up to a creator and then again every subsequent month on the 1st day. So, if you signed up on the 25th of September, 7 days later, on the 1st of October you would be charged again. This is how it has been for years, and to be honest I always felt bad for people signing in at the end of the month and I know for the exit surveys that many people left feeling overcharged.

The new way that the platform is giving us is that you are charged on the same day of the month from when you signed up, so if you pledged to a tier on the 25th of September, you would be charged again on the 25th of October, 25th of November, etc.

As I understand, all recurrent members who have been charged on the 1st on previous months would not see any change; it would treat them as if they signed up originally on the 1st day of the month and will continue charging just as before; so for most of you, it would be really transparent.

Anyone joining as a member this month and in the future will get their monthly renewal charge on the same day of the month when they signed in. I believe this is good news for new subscribers since their monthly payments will be evenly spaced out, and completely avoids the problem of having the 1st and 2nd charges one right after the other.

In summary, I truly believe this is very good news, and is something that I wish had been implemented from the start.

If you have any questions or concerns about this change don't hesitate to send me a message.

Cheers!

-Kurt
