Over the years I've gotten praise for how I can take footage created decades beforehand and re-align it to modern music to entirely reinvent the energy of a scene. A lot of math and timing goes into it, and it starts with the editing first. 

During the scripting process I locate a song, this'll be the foundation of whatever I do. Sometimes there's a song I just come across and keep it in mind, other times I'll spend hours looking for the perfect track in the middle of production. Believe it or not, every scored fight scene you've liked started as a bad AMV. I carefully cut to the music to get the vibe interlaced with the footage. Voiceover and sound design seals the cut.
