Kicking off this 1970’s theme month, in December, of all months, we have a piece from the film Smokey and the Bandit from 1977. I unironically love the film and have sort of had the idea to draw the character for a while now, in fact it’s her that kick started the whole ’70’s month idea.

So, the Trans Am was a challenge and sort of took a lot longer to colour than I thought, trying to get the shading in the right place, have the colours like it’s reflection the sky, then getting to Carrie herself, spent a LOT longer on that than I anticipated and then the face turned out I think pretty well for details and likeness which then meant of course that everything else needed to be adequately detailed to match. Two versions, one with chromatic aberration, one without. Small test with that effect.

The last time I did a piece that wasn’t an animation that took this long to put together was the Rey MirAvi tribute, just about a year ago, working on and off over a few days. Speaking of Rey...
