($300 in postage later cough cough) My correct pressure pot finally arrived. Phew

what was wrong with the old one? I've been looking into getting one of these for myself and I was wondering what issues/differences made the other unusable?

NazFX_Studios

I stupidly didn't check the maximum working pressure on the old one. It could only be used up to 40psi (where 60-80psi is the pressure you need for clear resin). Dumb thing was, this pot was only $5 more than the other one, I just assumed that all the 'professional resin casting pots' would be able to go up to the right pressure I needed.

I'd love to see a video of you using it ^_^

NazFX_Studios

I definitely will record it. It will probably be a couple of months until I use it :)

I wouldn't call that stupid. I use resin almost weekly (but opaque, and without a pressure pot) And I didn't know there was a specific PSI I had to look for. I want to get into using clear resin myself because the finish is so much nicer imo. I live in florida where humidity causes airbubbles galore in most regular settings, even with a kickass Air conditioner that actually has a humidity setting. what sorts of resin are you planning on using if I may ask? I want to know if they're from my same supplier. I use stuff from a company called smooth-on. they have a local storefront about 10 miles away from me that I peruse on a near-monthly basis.

Jelly! We don't have a viable smooth on supplier here. The one company that does sell their stuff upmarks it about 2-4x, making it pretty much unaffordable. I have purchased a product from a small company called liquid diamonds, I've heard really good things about their resin. I haven't done resin work before though so it's all going to be new to me

If I may ask, What are you planning on doing with it? I'd be happy to share my experience c:

If you can somehow get a sampler pack of Smooth-on's dyes at least I can't recommend them enough. And the sampler is okay as far as pricing goes. That's the only thing I'd really recommend for dyes. (Hell I wouldn't mind buying a set for you and shipping it :p) Another option is some alcohol dye but that can be tricky to find a nice ratio for. (I haven't used liquid diamonds however so they might have some dyes of their own). Also make test casts of the mold before doing the final thing, just to make sure your mold doesn't have air bubbles. Looking at the horn you're definitely going to want to use a 2-part mold, there's tips for how to do that on smooth-on's website and other tutorials. What sort of mold making material are you planning on using? plaster? silicone?

NazFX_Studios

Ah that is so nice of you. I got a selection of dyes from the place that I bought the resin from. Should be compatible :). I'll definitely check those videos out. I've been doing some research on 2 part molds, hoping it's not horribly difficult haha
