Lion wip 1 (Patreon)

Hey guys, going to post up a bunch of lion wips. Will probably have to split the posts as there’s a lot of pics.

Started off with the sculpt done on my iPad. The program is called nomad sculpt and I highly recommend it. I 3D printed the head (in both resin and fdm as my resin printer couldn’t do the whole thing) and mounted it on a custom stand.

I patterned a foam mane ‘base’. Was a bit of an educated guess as to how big this needed to be as the fur added a lot of volume. In the end I think it was pretty spot on.

For the mane I made hundreds of wefts out of wool tops (the same wool used in needle felting). These were glued onto the foam base layer by layer.
