Been getting a lot of general questions on how to start plushmaking so decided to write up a guide. Sharing it here first. Is there anything else I should cover before I release it? Any big errors? Hope it helps someone

Naz's guide on how to get into plushmaking

Naz's guide on how to get into plushmaking -------- This is a guide based on my personal experience only. My knowledge may be lacking in some areas, I will try to link to sources when this is the case. Take my recommendations with a grain of salt.

How do stuff the hair with quilt batting?

Not sure if too much detail, but all the pictures you show are embroidered/appliqued eyes. could also mention that beginners if they want to use other eyes, that safety eyes are much easier to attach than the glass eyes with a loop at the end as you'll need to keep your thread tight and knot it up - I know my first glass eyes plush ended up with eyes hanging under the nose after a week =D Also a bit nipicky maybe: Make sure you also mark the sections on Fabric/Thread etc as a headline so it makes for a nicer document outline displayed on the left to use for navigation. Really nice document overall though, should help a lot of people.

I find it really nice, covering a lot of handy subjects to start this hobby! ^^ Personnally, and I don't know if it's relevant for a lot of persons but I would add just few words about drawing skills. I don't have any and I'm struggling with proportions but I manage to make plushies anyway and my own patterns, it just involved some even more trial and errors. It can be very discouraging sometimes, but even if you can only draw stickmen, you can sew, make plushies and patterns!

Oh totally forgot other eye options. I'll add that for sure. Is there a way to mark them as a headline? I saw that some had automatically done so but others had not

I totally get where you are coming from. Drawing is not my strong suit either. I tend to work off of reference images 95% of the time. You can also overlay images of your reference over images of the plush to see where you need to make changes if proportions don't look right. I don't think you need to be able to draw super well to make plush, but if you are like me you just need an image to work off of

Belly/head gusset tips? If you already have those, I'd love a link! Still my biggest weakness 😫

NazFX_Studios

I link to gusset tutorials in the document 😃. I might make more tutorials covering it later if you want to wait though

This is a wonderful document! In the hand sewing section you could add a sentence or two stating that appliqué and simple embroidery can be done by hand too, for people starting out without a sewing machine.

I'm not quite sure if I saw it in there but, airbrushing?
