Starting to model some of Taro's parts before the weekend. I'll 3d print these once refined and extract foam patterns from it. So hyped! If you guys have anything you want me to cover during the build let me know and I'll try and remember.

I was wondering if you've ever tried making a pattern directly from your model. If you unwrap it like you would for texture mapping, by placing seams, and your model is mostly clean of ngons, you can put it through a browser program called plushify and it'll generate a printable pattern for you. I was able to do this with a plush I made, and it worked really well.

I'm not that cluey with 3d modelling unfortunately. I just wrap my prints with tape and it works well for me :)

The UV method I’ve tried a couple times and it is decent. You don’t need to use plushify if you already understand patterns. Basic UV skills can get you there and may even produce higher quality results. Recent Marvelous Designer improvements make it so you can draw the pattern on meshes and see immediate sim results. Which is rad! Also... You can always do the 3D print method then retroactively draw the pattern back onto the model. All kinds of ways to do things! Also now I’m curious if there are Blender plugins to help do pattern making. Off to dig around on the Internet!

Wow, great model! I love the fact the fursuit will be in a chibi-ish style, can't wait to see more!

I agree! I've used UV Layout to generate my patterns from Maya models and it gets me most of the way there :)
