So the spikes for Ignitus were all printed with spoonflower fabric. As you probably know, it's not the best idea to print dark colors with it, since the white base will show through. I didn't have another option for the extreme yellow to red gradients though (airbrushing yellow fabric red would just make it all orange).

Once the spikes were all sewn, and seams brushed out, I airbrushed the colors of the print, back over each piece, as well as the seams. This bumped up the colors, removed the white seams and flecks. Now to just let them dry and sew them into his back seam.

These came out really good!! Wow. How messy is airbrushing? It looks like your setup is outside? ...do you have to worry about accidentally setting a piece down on a wet spot on the table and messing it up?

Nope I do it inside, and I blowdry both the pieces and the cardboard I airbrush on before I lay them down :). It's not really that wet either, most paint dries as or before it lands

Much better! At least the printed minky made air brushing easy since it already has the designs on it. Do you need to push up the nap to get the under color? Or does the airbrush do that pretty well?
