2017 Overview (Patreon)
Content
2017 was a huge whirlwind. I started the year being incredibly bored, and the universe seemed to throw a whole bunch of stuff at me to punish me for feeling that way it seems.
Next year I'm going to completely scrap my current commission system (after the owed batch via patreon), since it made me very time poor, I earned far less and got to work on personal projects very minimally. It's my fault for taking on so many flashy characters that sounded fun to make at the time. I want to move on to taking 1-2 commissions at a time, and doing some preorder batches so I can earn more from newly made patterns (rather than making a new one for every single plush I make).
Positives of 2017:
- I felt like my work improved a great deal. I learnt a lot and was happy with every single piece I made.
- I made by far some of my favourite pieces to date.
- I made very few standard ponies (forcing myself to make new patterns)
- I got to travel to the USA for Ponyciderfest. One of the best experiences of my life.
- I put a deposit on my current house.
- I got to make a very detailed art doll, something I've wanted to do for a long time).
- Started making my own sculpts/molds/casts
Negatives of 2017:
- Commission system left me earning far less than previous years
- Couldn't invest as much $ into my work as previous years
- Didn't get to work on fursuit or cosplay (because of above)
- Made far less work than last year because of taking on projects that needed new patterns
Goals for 2018:
- Start building my studio
- Work on a more profitable/enjoyable commission system
- Start on my Ratchet cosplay
- Buy a 3d printed/start 3d printing ($ depending).
- Work more with foam for large projects
- Finish a fursuit head
- Take some online courses
