Here's all the feathering I got done today. Probably 4-5 hours after I did the Marksaline prep. A tonne faster than I thought it would be! I'm pretty happy with the speed of application tbh.

I had to trim the feathers even further, to avoid them being too bulky (and so that I could rotate them to curve around the form without sticking at the other end). I ended up halving to quartering most.

Each feather was attached with hot glue at the base. I've tested this and it's crazy strong. You'd rip the felt underneath before you ripped the feather off the glue. I used a small pair of tweasers to apply each feather to keep my fingers away from the hot glue (though I still managed to burn myself a couple of times haha).

I got both front legs done, and the lower parts of the back legs. The back legs do have pale areas, so I avoided touching those before I airbrush new feathers (will need to do some gradients from dark grey to pale grey). I'll also mark out the pale spots (front of thighs, lower back, top rump etc) with markers so I can work the gradients in with various shaded feathers.

Overall I'm crazy happy with the look, and the ease of application. It's fiddly and time consuming, but I wouldn't say it's difficult. Kind of methodical and relaxing. I think it would only take a cpl more days of only feathering to cover the rest of his body.

I'll be working on Marksaline tomorrow and next week. I may pick another day to work on him here and there. As you can see I'm still furring his face one layer at a time. It's totally ruined the shape of his face since it's untrimmed and poofy X'D. I'm hoping it will look good once trimmed.
