While waiting for the dyed fabric to dry, I did a test of the head pattern in pink dyed minky (where applicable). I thought that it would warp as drastically as the body did, but it seems to have absolutely no change XD. Awesome for me.

I still am baffled by how the stretch is effected when the minky is dyed. On some patterns it seems to have a massive effect, and on others almost none. I would think that the issues would be universal, but it doesn't seem that way. In any case, I'll probably test all patterns I'm sewing in dyed minky before I commit to using the final shade.

My guess is it would depend on how long the fabric is dyed for/ how hot the temp. That rainbow dash fabric I dyed was in there a while, I think I even re-dyed some pieces that were too light, the stretch was totally awful, I started from solid white for that one. The after ironing could also be a culprit, the nap was horrid, I had to go over several times with the iron to fix it.

Oh I just realized, it's very possibly the iron is doing the damage! It can get way hotter than water, 2x hotter in fact. I'd try a test plush before ironing and then after and see how that changes. Wonder if longer ironing time on lower heat would help, or maybe brushing the nap while wet to set it in place without the use of an iron?
