One pain of working with dyed minky, is that it effects the stretch of the fabric. Usually this makes it stretch more than usual horizontally, but I suspect it might give a little vertical stretch too.

Before using the final dyed fabric for Gabby (I don't want to have to dye another batch if there is a pattern error) I decided to test both the head and body patterns w/ dyed minky rather than regular minky.

As you can see in the first test (top), the once-correct pattern, when used with dyed minky, stretches dramatically and balloons her out a great deal. I spent today doing 3 fully sewn tests to compensate for the stretch (top to bottom)

I would definitely suggest testing your pattern with dyed minky as early as possible if you are going to use it. It really requires totally different patterning to normal (usually just reducing swelling where applicable). I use failed dyed pieces (there are usually a few per batch) that have uneven dyeing etc.

Tomorrow I'll test the embroidered head in dyed minky, and likely try to do the dye job. I don't have a dryer so need time to let the fabric dry overnight.
