Was having issues visualising how Gabby's head worked in 3d, so I decided to quickly sculpt it out of clay. I wanted to work out if her eye placement, head shape etc was even possible to translate from 2d.

I got the sculpt to where I was happy with it, and decided to try and rip the pattern from it. I've done this a bunch of times. Usually it doesn't work for providing the whole pattern, but can give some interesting shapes that I wouldn't have thought of myself. '

I wrapped the clay in cling wrap, and then in a few layers of masking tape. I marked where I wanted the seams, cut the tape off and cut where any bulges were to form darts.

I was pretty stoked at the result it gave me, pretty great! It only needed a minor change to the cheeks and it was pretty much done. I've never had this happen before haha. I even got a single piece for the front of the head, which is really clean and will make for much easier embroidery.

Tomorrow I'll start testing the head w/ embroidery, since I'll likely have to adjust for that. After that, I'll test the head, w/ embroidery, w/ dyed minky, since it usually has a different stretch. Plus I don't want to be messing around with small batches of dyed minky.
