Love the well deserved comments for Chris Jackson's voice. His performance of One Last Time at the White House is fantastic. It was just before the ending of Obama's second term.

I had never seen Hamilton until it was released on Disney+. Then Hamilton, Hamilton soundtrack, Hamilton videos, Hamilton reactions, etc… were on repeat for the rest of lockdown.

Letty

And did you watch Encanto? I'm not sure if you watched. The songs was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and are amazing!! Thank you for bringing more and more of Lin-Manuel :)

johnreaveslive

LOL heck yes! for real though its cool how something like Hamilton can just hit you the right way and stick with you! were you into musicals before seeing Hamilton?

Letty

Is a Disney movie, is in Disney+ too. From there is where come from the famous song We don't talk about Bruno.

Angie Shaw

Their version of One Last Time performed at the White House!! It was as Obama was about to leave office. Also the mixtape version of One Last Time that has Obama doing Washington’s farewell speech.

Sam

Ok, something different…I see you like great vocals You should definitely check out the best female pop singer currently. Her name is Morrissette Amon she’s from the land of great singers,.. the Philippines. https://youtu.be/fjn7X6ywq90 Please. Your welcome.👍

Lol. Yes. I was a choir/band nerd in school. Choir, marching band, school musicals, drumline. (So, not surprising I’m also a Pentaholic 😉)

John, if you do a ‘Ham 4 Ham’ or ‘Hamilton on the street’ search on YouTube, there are several short videos of when the cast came to perform on the street before the show. AND they were usually trading parts (eg., the king(s) singing the Schuyler Sisters). You may enjoy those. 🙂

Ok John, let's face it. Every sane person has got to love Chris Jackson (i.e. George Washington) and his voice. That's why, when you do In the Heights you have to do the original cast video. I can send you a whole video of the play because Chris Jackson and Lin Manuel Miranda starred together in that one too and you can really see his personality come through

https://youtu.be/MqNgo3W745U Here's the full In the Heights video with Chris Jackson, Lin Manuel Miranda, and Karen Olivo. I think you'll like this one

Oh, and the Tony Awards production THAT was good, too. 😁

johnreaveslive

ok so I checked out the first little bit of that video and thats AWESOME its the full video but im wondering is there a full good quality video?

Joyelizabeth

Did you look through it completely? Like, I know it starts out shaky, but for a complete video, the quality is pretty high. The camera evens out after the first song, so it's not as bad for the rest of the show. There is a movie, but except for Les Mis, I don't usually recommend them over the original casts

Elizabeth Williams

They do a zoom one like this on Jimmy Fallon but the cast sings "Helpless"

Emily Brown

Just occurred to me that you should add Into The Woods (the play NOT the movie) to your musicals list. The original production for the 80s is sooooo good. Thanks!

Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand (NOT Lea Michele) is another great one. Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sweeney Todd, Shrek the Musical, Rent, Hairspray, Chicago-- I gotta stop I'm too Broadway excited now. XD But those are all worth checking out!

Seconding Into the Woods (the original Broadway cast filmed performance with Chip Zien and Bernadette Peters), and Shrek The Musical! A recent one that's really powerful (and heartbreaking at times) is Come From Away. Groundhog Day is fantastic musically -- Tim Minchin composed it, if you're familiar with his musical humor -- but I don't think there's a filmed performance out there.
