International edition strikes again, English version elevator girl and no ↑↓←→bbab or bxmxc. Metal galaxy is too good they can leave out bangers and It's still the best album. In the next album we need more backing vocals but also return to Su solos and BBM (maybe under a different name)

Great reaction John! This is an amazing album. Aren’t you glad they ended on Arkadia? So they can send you off to your 40-min late appointment at the speed of light 🤣. On the Kawaii topic: I personally prefer their more epic, serious, and darker songs. Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic child-like kawaiiness from the likes of Gimme Choco or Awadama Fever, etc. Also, I think as the ladies grew older, they intelligently transitioned into a more grown-up, badass version of “Kawaii” for their fun songs like Metali and Ratatata. I do agree with you regarding the wish to hear Momo & Moa more on their 5th album. It will be the first studio album with Momo’s vocals! For this Album reaction, you’re missing ↑↓←→BBAB and BxMxC, which were on their Japanese domestic release. Other fun, but unrelated tidbits: 1). Check out their newest announcement trailer for 2025 EU Arena tour. You’ll hear a teaser of a new collab song with Poppy! 2). Check out the Finnish movie “Heavier Trip” (Amazon Prime), Babymetal makes a few solid appearances, and it’s quite hilarious 😆👌. 🤘🦊🤘🦊

I say yes to not having the translated lyrics to read on a first listen, they are distracting. I made sure to get the Japanese edition so mine has 16 tracks (↑↓←→bbab and bxmxc are missing on the international release and mine has the Japanese version of Elevator Girl - the English version is not a translation). The album has two distinct sides or halves. Future Metal is the intro to the Light Side which is more electronic, pop and international musical styles. In The Name Of is the intro to the Dark Side which heads back towards the heavier, darker and more metal end of the BABYMETAL sliding scale. If you didn't see the Legend M live performance of Shine do yourself a big favour ... You do know the Kami Band don't write the music or play on the studio recordings (apart from Leda Cygnus - he did play guitar and bass on Arkadia in this one and we know he wrote the guitar arrangements for No Rain, No Rainbow and played on the album for that and maybe a few other songs).

John, what a great album reaction. Metal Galaxy is a truly fantastic album, but is it my favourite? It was, but not anymore. My current favourite album is The Other One. I'm pretty sure this will be the case until their next album is released, which will, of course, become my new favourite Babymetal album; it kinda goes without saying. I want to pick up on one thing in your video, during the track "In The Name Of", on your video at 29:56 you will see the lyrics: "What is dead may never die, What is dead may never die (die)" Now, what I am going to say is a bit of a stretch, but it makes perfect sense to me. Babymetal's song "In The Name Of" is a Doom Metal track and I wonder if there is a little Easter Egg here, a homage perhaps, to one of Japan's most respected Doom Metal bands, Ningen Isu. Ningen Isu have, over time, written songs that reflect the writings of HP Lovecraft (an early 20th Century horror/sci-fi writer), channelling the Cthulhu Mythos (Google it, I can't explain that properly here). Perhaps Lovecraft's most famous quotation is this: "That is not dead can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die" The above Babymetal lyric bears a strong, even if truncated, feel to HP Lovecraft's words, and by extension to Ningen Isu's thematic songwriting. In my mind it would be awesome if Babymetal was showing respect to Ningen Isu in those lines. John, you should check this song out live, there are two cracking, but very different performances of this song: the opening performance of Su-metal's 20th Birthday concert, Legend S, and the visual masterpiece from one of 10 Babymetal 's 10th anniversary celebrations at Budokan. Both are spectacular and awe-inspiring. Thanks for taking the time to do this album. Supercool.

I think it's relatively safe here compared to YouTube, so I'm giving you a link to the "Legend S" performance of "In the Name of". If you haven't seen it, it's a must-watch. Most epic concert intro you have ever seen, I swear! https://streamable.com/l1m8e Su's voice in the album version of Shine still gives me goosebumps. It's so angelic.

Re "What is dead may never die" I thought it was a Game of Thrones reference. It is the title of S02E03. From the Wiki '... is a common saying in the religion of the Drowned God on the Iron Islands' The original inspiration is probably Lovecraft though.
