First Album from Taylor Swift is a self titled and im stoked to check it out!

So this album actually doesn’t have a re-recording yet so she doesn’t own the songs but since you’re starting from the beginning the fans won’t really fault you for that! Everyone still has to listen to debut and rep from the OG albums until she releases the rerecordings.

Unfortunately the self titled and reputation have not had Taylor’s versions released yet. Hopefully soon they will be released.

So Mary’s song is apparently about her neighbours love story which makes it extra adorable. I believe the outside is about the bullying and isolation she went through during middle school. Our song was written for a school contest which is wild because it’s such a good song! Tied together with a smile is about her friend who was having problems with an eating disorder but in hindsight it makes it sadder because Taylor later had the same issues with eating. All the names in the album are actually people she had crushes on or was with, she used to put clues in her albums that spell out what the songs are about and who it was about lol. Teen Taylor was savage af 😂. Wait until speak now album though that’s peak savage Taylor. I believe the song you were talking about that’s about Taylor’s mum is called ‘the best day’ and it’s on the fearless album which will be next on your journey. I might be in the minority but I adore her debut album so much and I prefer it to fearless but that’s not a very popular opinion 😂. I can’t wait until we get her re-recording with her voice that she has now, it’s going to sound so beautiful! She does the songs from debut on the eras tour and it all just sounds so heavenly. Also about your point of what makes this country is because of the beat and how it sounds sonically, I think Taylor agrees with you. She’s always had pop sensibilities in her album and she’s said herself that she’s glad that her fans focus more on the lyrics than what she does sonically because she likes to change it up all the time and wants to be able to strip down all her songs to what they were when she wrote them!

Sake! Teardrops on My Guitar still gives me chills. The pop version is the one that was played on the radio, but the original is so gorgeous. Your musical insights were spot on. I'd love to hear Should've Said No as a rock song! I'm Only Me When I'm With You - the lyrics refer to a romantic relationship, but the video definitely showed her mom, friends, family, etc., so it seems to show that the song can be related to any relationship. So glad you are going through the rest of her discography and finding things to appreciate. We all have our preferences and there's nothing wrong with that, but finding things to like is always positive. I do wish she had a Debut portion of her Eras Tour, but I guess it's already long enough. LOL!

Great video man, Sake. You asked about her producer, it was Nathan Chapman, he did her first demo cd, after that taylor insisted to have him as producer and so he did her first 3 albums and few songs on red. Theres a video on YT, he explaines how it is to work with taylor as songwriter and gives some background about song structure and some stories. The music video I'm Only Me When I'm With You used a lot of footage from her touring with her band, it also included her best friend, Abigail, the redhead. Her mom was who you thought. The dancing in the kitchen was with Abigail & I think the country singer Kelly Pickler.

The more I listen to her debut album, the more I appreciate it and really enjoy the songs. I'm not sure why a lot of her songs are real growers? Of course, there are many that just hit right first listen, but some of my favorites started out as 'meh...?' on first listen.

She released a Christmas album in 2007 with 2 original songs: Christmases When You Were Mine & Christmas Must Be Something More. Those would be before her next album, Fearless. Fearless does have a re-recording. The playlist for Fearless (Taylor's Version) on her YouTube channel has all lyric videos. John- you should watch Taylor’s documentary, Miss Americana, (a lot of back story about her private life. it’s got some important context you’ll want to know about later as she’s writing her reputation album and why that album is completely different than all her other ones. Her concerts are phenomenal. She’s just one of those performers who is better live than on her studio albums. Especially 1989. Actually , all of them bcus she is just that good live.

If you end up watching the love story music video for fearless, the castle where they filmed the video is outside of nashville! they hold the renaissance fair there every year and you can go and take pictures there its really cool.
