Welcome to our 'The Self Contained Knitter' collection

Dan is back with a brand new episode of his one man show, 'The Self Contained Knitter'. This time he analyses the links between music and knitting. He also delves into how those links keep him motivated to keep casting on. Dan also shows you, for the first time anywhere, his completed 'Windschief'.

Join Dan as he:

  • Introduces you to his pink Barbie shirt
  • Presents the show from a one off special location
  • Discusses the reasons why knitting smaller projects has helped his overall knitting
  • Talks about his experience knitting the ‘Windschief’ a second time
  • Analyses the knit three together decrease and why he doesn’t like it
  • Compares the progress he has made on his DPN ribbing ladders
  • Talks about yarn and looks closely at the Feederbrook Farm Yarns and the Jamieson & Smith Shetland Worsted Aran
  • Discusses the joy that can be taken in uniform stitches

Dan, yes, uniform stitches on a sweater is very exciting! The first time a knitter commented on my uniform stitches I was thrilled!

Your projects look just beautiful! I wanted to encourage you with your thought about knitting a piece just to practice your shaping. I’m working through an educational program for knitting and a lot of what I’m doing is knitting small swatches to practice and demonstrate various stitches, increases and decreases, bind offs, seaming methods, grafting, etc. It’s a low-risk way of working out the best way to learn skills for your projects.
