Welcome to Season 2 of our 'Design Diary' series!

Three years ago Kay created her 'Design Diary' series. Over the last thirty episodes Kay has taken you behind the scenes on her design process and shared with you lots of the ups and some of the downs of being a pattern design. You guys have told us you love this show so much so we thought it was time for a facelift! So welcome to the first episode of the second season of 'Design Diary'!

Join Kay as she:

  • Shows you the finished Beachcomber Socks, the first exclusive pattern with accompanying tutorial series that will commence this years ‘Summer of Stitching’
  • Talks through the theme of this years ‘Summer of Stitching’ and explains to you how the theme inspired the design of the socks
  • Discusses the yarn which she used in this design  https://www.edencottageyarns.co.uk and also offers recommendations as to what other types of yarn would suit this design
  • Talks through her desire to make these socks easy to knit with magic loop and DPN’s
  • Mentions her passion for creating ribs that enhance her designs
  • Discusses the other elements which make up the sock and talks through what we’ll be covering in the six part tutorial series that accompanies this design

The Summer of Stitching 2023 commences on the 2nd of May and continues through until 22nd August. It is available in full to Silver, Gold & Platinum Patrons.

What a great intro, Dan.🤩 The socks are so beautiful, Kay; I prefer knitting my socks on magic loop. Will dive into my stash to look for yarn, so I’ll be ready to start tomorrow.🌊🐚

Beautiful sock pattern and loving the new intro, so feel good! I knit my socks on a 20cm/8" short circular as that's how I first learned. It was awkward at first but I just got used to it. I do the whole sock, including the heel, that way and only transfer onto DPN's at the very end of the toe section.
