Welcome to the 'Bakery Bears Radio Show' Episode 62

In todays show we tackle a subject that is close to our hearts, books! Not the digital kind, but the ones you can pick up and touch. A question which has been worrying us is are we living through the end of the bookshop as we know it? On our walk today we talk through our history with books, our love of libraries and of course bookshops. But we also touch on audio books and digital books as we consider that perhaps there is a place for all of them.

Join Kay & Dan as they:

  • Discuss lollipop ladies and gentlemen!
  • Mention Steptoe & Sonhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steptoe_and_Son
  • Dan has started using dumbbells!
  • Talk about their love of libraries when they were growing up
  • Discuss their initial opinion of digital books and talk through why that initial opinion has changed
  • Talk through the challenges that face bookshops
  • Discuss digital, audio and physical books and try to decide which is most important
  • Talk through how hard it is to donate books now
  • Mention The Little Ripon Bookshop and discuss how much they love spending time trying before you buy! https://www.littleriponbookshop.co.uk
  • Discuss how reading a book requires commitment and self discipline

We'll be back in two weeks with our next 'Radio Show'!

My mother was a librarian and I do have a library and I continue to buy books, love the smell of books and prefer the tactile feel of a book. I have an e-reader for travel though, takes up less space and I can have more books with me... LoL
