Crafternoon Treats

Hi Kay I'm just watching and stopped to comment on your smelly shawl problem... The only thing I know that is an odour neutraliser is fabreze - the chemical in fabreze products does somehow react with the molecules that cause smells and makes them non smelly. I read a biography of the developer once and that info has somehow stayed in my tangled brain. You can buy fabreze fabric refresher spray but not sure about spraying it on a handmade wool shawl. You could try it on some spare yarn of the same type to make sure it doesn't cause damage or cause the colour to run and then try it and leave it to air for 24 hours after spraying to see if that has any effect. If you don't feel you can do that, the type of smell you describe should eventually wear off - but it might take weeks rather than days. You must be so annoyed! Kathryn xx

For the odour you can try placing in a plastic bag with some loosely crumbled newspaper ( maybe wrap shawl in tissue first so as to not be touching the newsprint, ) and place shawl in bag and all in the car for a few days warm and sunny car rides or in the garden in the sun.. the newsprint with the warmth will trap the smell.Newsprint absorbs some pretty aweful odours for me in past... like rotten meat in a eskie.
