Welcome back to our 'Design Diary' series!

As some of you may know already, Kay adores knitting cowls. A few months ago she set out to try and create her perfect cowl design. With specific yarn in mind and the desire to create a very special feel whilst knitting the pattern, could Kay plan and create her perfect cowl design? In todays design diary we find out.

Join Kay as she:

  • Shares with you the story of her latest cowl design
  • Discusses the inspiration behind the design
  • Talks through the emotions she wanted the pattern to invoke
  • Tells you about the yarn she wanted to use and how she used those boundaries to help shape the design of the cowl
  • Shows you her initial design drawings which went on to become the finished pattern
  • Talks you through how she dealt with ensuring the design was mirrored from top to bottom

I thoroughly enjoyed learning about your inspiration and method for designing your cowl. I have no interest in designing myself, but I am thankful for you that you share these stories about your designs. They truly are inspiring, giving me a glimmer of a hope that I might try it sometime. Same goes for your dying. I have never been interested in doing it myself, but watching you turn out all your gorgeous colorways does give me a tiny idea that I might give it a go sometime. Never say never.
