Welcome back to our ’Extended Reviews’ collection.

Today you join Kay for the start of a two part review. She has been fortunate to have got the opportunity to work with 'Valley Yarns' in 'Charlemont' over the last few weeks. So we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do a little review.

In this first part you join Kay as she gives you her thoughts on the yarn 'Off the Shelf'. She will then return later in the year with a very special 'Off the Needles' as the is a very exciting project!

Join Kay as she:

  • Shows you her skein of Valley Yarns Charlemont
  • Talks you through the base and what projects it would work well for
  • Discusses the colour way and also the other colours that are available
  • Talks a little bit about the base nameand references this book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59849.The_Ghost

WEBS is about 2 hours from where we live. It is a beautiful part of Massachusetts. We visited Northampton (and WEBS) the weekend before lockdown.

There are so many wonderful fiber-y locations in New England. I can hardly wait until the pandemic is crushed and it is safe to go visiting. Two historic old mills are Harrisville Designs in New Hampshire (bet you've been there Patricia) and Bartlett Yarns which is deep in the Maine woods. Then there are the festivals! I love New Hampshire Sheep and Wool, though that's not happening this year I believe. Maybe there will be Vermont Sheep and Wool. In normal times there's another festival up in Maine that happens in the spring (Maine Fiber Frolic?) and the New England Fiber Festival not too far from WEBS in the fall a little after the Vermont festival. Kay you should come and visit if you possibly can!
