Welcome to our 'Perfect Cake' Series.

We're back with the second episode from our brand new adventure. Once a month we're taking you all on a 'Quest for the Perfect Cake'. We are going to visit 12 different cake shops and sample their fare.

In this episode we visit Robineau https://robineau.co.uk in our home town of Darlington. We're looking for:

  • Anything sweet that you can slice
  • A cake that is light and tasty
  • Something with lots of flavour

Then join us as we head back to our mobile 'Cake HQ' and score what we have sampled. Perfection will be rewarded with the ultimate 'Bakery Bear' 5 stars, anything less than perfection and we'll take away a star. Last episode Betty's did not do well at all! But our expectations are super high for today's visit.

What cakes will we choose? Most importantly will Robineau earn the coveted Bakery Bear 5 Star Award? Lets find out....

What a find, the cakes looked delicious...

Getting hungry watching this. Do the English pour cream on every dessert? LOL! I wouldn’t think to pour cream on cake, maybe whipped cream. Doesn’t it make it soggy?

The Bakery Bears

Hi Sharon - No we don't pour cream over every dessert. This is actually a french patisserie so I think its more widespread than you think. We don't use a lot of whipped cream at all. Cream on cakes like you saw in this show is definitely a special occasion thing. It gives it a black forest gateaux vibe definitely. The only cakes I would pour cream on is Victoria Sponge or Chocolate cake. You should definitely try it, I have a feeling you might like it ;-) D
