I knew you'd love to see the actor who was in Devil in the Dark again :) I'm pretty sure he kills it no matter the character he's playing. The very stately William Marshall is a definite Shakespearean actor who had many acting credits to his name. He even brought dignity to the titular character of Blacula in the classic horror movie. Yes, I have to admit, something of a guilty pleasure of mine, lol. Maybe check it out this Halloween season, Greg. Don't worry, not a real gory feature, but the funky 70's soundtrack and some effectively spooky moments make it an enjoyable enough watch just to say you've got it under your horror movie belt

I've never seen it, but you had me at 'funky 70s soundtrack' :) Will definitely check it out now. Thank you, my friend!

I won't bore you with details but I'm going through some rough times right now, and I want you to know that your TOS reactions are the highlight of my week, I stop everything when the patreon email comes through ^_^

Warp Reactor

Oh, my friend, I am so sorry you're going through it right now. If these videos help even a little bit, I am so glad :) Always here to watch some shows and always know that the 'real world' can't ruin our fun in here :)

Interesting thing about this 'funky 70s' soundtrack is that in the credits, Sol Kaplan's name was there because the episode used parts of his Doomsday Machine soundtrack, an epic musical masterpiece.

If you want a few good movies on the dangers of AI, go watch the 70s films Westworld and Futureworld.

Warp Reactor

I actually watched Westworld for Patreon! Haven't seen Futureworld though...need to check that out! Thank you, my friend!

The only quibble I have with this episode is the lighthearted ending, with Kirk laughing as they pull away from the wreckage of the Excalibur and several hundred dead. I know this was the trope for TV then, but it's the one thing I would change. I did love Spock v McCoy in this episode, especially when Spock zings Bones.

Warp Reactor

Yeah the lighthearted endings after tragedy are always moments of whiplash. You nailed it though...a sign of the times

Dr. Richard Daystrom is played by the actor William Marshall. William played the main character in the black exploitation film "Blacula" (1972) and to my knowledge also appears in a brief cameo role in "Maverick" (1994). William Marshall is the poker player who loses to the Angel around the time mark 01:31:10. Aside from those two roles, Marshall played many roles thoughout his career almost up to his death in 2003.
