Yet another great episode! Really love how they structured this 'leg' of Robotech!

SWEET! Wife is asleep, coffee is made, bong is clean, and I'm ready for Robotech!

The show itself doesn't do the greatest job at explaining the different bioroid types (generally, there are four types, of which you have already seen three). Much of what we know about bioroids is explained more thoroughly in supplemental materials such as the RPG, but let me try. The blue bioroid is the most generic. This is the foot soldier/grunt of the Robotech Masters' bioroid army and yes, Dr. Cochran and Dr. Beckett were correct that they are operated by essentially humanoid nervous system tissue (enough to react and respond to stimuli and commands). While the blue bioroids *can* be operated by a full humanoid pilot, it isn't necessary and the Masters are keen on preserving resources, so a little nervous system material is enough to get these bioroids to respond to the red command bioroid or enemy movements, though they are incapable of independent strategizing or thinking. The next level up is the elite soldier bioroid, which is colored green. You saw those on the surface of the Robotech Masters' flagship in today's episode (and there are more inside). As far as we can tell, these are somewhat superior to the generic blue grunt bioroids and seem to be tasked primarily with defending the mothership and its assets (including the the Robotech Masters themselves). They are somewhat superior to the blue bioroids, but are still soldier units, not commanders. These are operated by full humanoids, which are superior. Then comes the red commander bioroid, which we've seen Dana fight several times. The mysterious red commander will play a much bigger role and get significant character development in future episodes. Finally, there is one more class of humanoid-operated bioroid that is superior to even the red commander and that we see later in the series, but I will say no more for now because that would be a spoiler.

This particular run of episodes is really good. That’s something I really like about Masters, how consistent it is, both story and animation. Maybe not as epic as The Macross Saga but I love it anyway.
