THIS IS NOT A DRILL! EXPANSE IS LIVE!

Eric Centea

I love that you’ve become infatuated with Amos. I think he’s the best character in a tv show and how Wes plays him is so subtle while communicating a ton of info about who he is.

Chad K

I like your line about it being a 'wild west' town. There is a line this season that sort of references that.

Etta Eskridge

Still loving everything about Bobbie! She is a pretty good detective herself!

Beat Conductor

I don't really like Murtry, but I don't have much sympathy for the belters either. They are both fools and reaching for violence and ignorance. Though I think Murtry is more in the right than the belters are at this point in time. ********THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THE REPLIES HERE********

You keep saying that the Roci crew should have taken Bobbie. But, you have to remember, she is a proud Martian even if she isn’t a soldier anymore. It was her decision to stay and she always follows through with her decisions. It’s exactly why she said no to Avasarala as well, she never wants to feel like a burden and hates being pitied.

Matt Drahos

Wes Chatham as Amos Burton is art at work. Nobody so far has had the balls to engage in a fight with him (except for our paladin), if they had any choice. Some people, you look into their eyes, and you know. Don't fuck with them. Amos has that.

I look at it as the inevitable result created by the governing powers. It's a planet practically made of lithium, so why give the entire claim to RCE? Why deny the de-facto claim of the Belters? Avasarala and her ilk were the villains here, in my opinion. Murtry, the Belters and the Rocinante wildcard are just playing out their parts.

So I haven't seen anyone else point it out or heard you call it out in one of the recaps, but Amos' fling, Wei, is played by Jess Salgueiro, probably more recognized as Robin, Hughie's girlfriend from the Boys before getting vaporized. Did a great job in this show! As many have pointed out, this season isn't just an outlier in tone and setting, but I think it's the one that varies most from the source book. Both end at roughly the same spot, but there are key differences and characters. All of which just remind me at how good these adaptations were. Love it!

Lauralyn

Holy crap - three Amos lines in a row! You're channeling him for sure.

Jason Dokos

I'm not sure if you'd picked up on Amos intentionally messing up Murtry's name. Murty, Morty, Marty and only when he perceives him as an actual threat in their 1v1 convo does he give that "Murr... Tree" to him

Beat Conductor

Nah. Belters lost my sympathy when they ran the blockade. This is just a classic case of fuck around and find out. With all parties. Also, don't forget the belters murdered 23 people and were planning more violence.

LightningInvoker

I think you're forgetting what actually happened at the launch pad (which is revealed later)

LightningInvoker

Murtry is a VILLAIN if I ever saw one. Jesus.

Beat Conductor

I'm definitely not. Things were only made less bad by the actions of one person, but she was on board with the violence at the start, as were many others. I'm assuming the whole place knew.

Lauralyn

It's odd that I would naturally have been on RCE's side since the Belters started the attack. But the bomb situation went "pear-shaped" and I see they never intended any deaths, that was poor planning/timing. Then Murtry being an ass pushes me to grant more grace to the Belters because he's straight up evil and gets off on it, as Amos knows. That's psycho, not poor planning and execution. I just started Cibola Burn again and [No Spoilers] the story's a little differently presented so far. (It just happened in the book.) But the show makes Murtry the jerk from the get-go, hard to get on board with that. Love these stories - so much thought provoking stuff!

Joshua

There is nothing more satisfying than a villain who is warning that there's a reckoning coming, just for the anti-hero to say "I'm here right now? Let's go." Amos basically saying "Oh you need time to prepare? I don't. Any time. Any place. I will rock your f**king world. This gives me big space western vibes. BIG DARN HEROES.

Lauralyn

Great point, I never thought of it that way. You're right it displays the idea that Amos has a new appreciation of the danger in this man, so using the right name is informing Murtry of a shift. I thought of it as Amos shifting to that name as a way to acknowledge he sees Murtry for who he is and says, "Yes, I see who you are, dude. Now more than before."
