A Dream of Drowning (Patreon)

I was looking to write a mermaid story to go with the Mermay theme I see on twitter every year, and thankfully my friend Cass was able to draw this sketch that instantly inspired me. I've always seen a connection between dropping into a hypnotic trance and drowning, so it was fun to be able to play with that idea for this piece (no actual drowning, don't worry!) 

In Tanya’s dream she’s drowning, but finds herself saved by a mermaid. But can she trust the predatory mermaid, or the sweet voice calling her to the ocean?
