Hey all!

It's been a bit since the last update now as I've been busy with fixes and tweaks for Demo 2. If you haven't seen it yet, the third small update for Demo 2 is out and has a new menu animation (see below!) and a noticeably improved Panthrill bottoming animation and Blob Plant animation. I'll probably be releasing more bugfix and tweak updates for Demo 2 because I've made it easy to update the demo and insider builds in one go if I need to :)



You may or may not have noticed that I don't post small game build updates here - they can happen often and I don't want to spam this with too much small stuff, but I'll mention them in these progress updates. You can check out the changes in these Itch posts:


Spooky Forest

The Spooky Forest was something I started a while back but had to push aside while I was focusing on releasing the Jungle Forest, and I'm glad to be working on it again because it's an area I feel like I can have a lot of fun with. The first thing I want to say is that the plan is to release the first part of the Spooky Forest towards the end of October. I want the Spooky Forest to be more noticeably split into areas that focus on each stat/level, and so the first part will be focusing on Erisia's butt.



The butt part of the Spooky Forest mostly takes place outside, with werewolves, pumpkin tentacles, and a UFO being in progress so far. I hope to have another entity or two beyond that - I have some ideas but haven't decided yet so until then feel free to share ideas if you have any too. The werewolves are both entities you encounter walking around the Spooky Forest, but should also be part of the music rhythm minigame I've mentioned once before. Something I've seen a few people ask about is a status effect the werewolf gives you - the ability to dash forward every few seconds, and the effect itself lasting 5 minutes until you have to revisit a werewolf if you want it again. This lets you dash away from entities, get around faster, and also reach certain areas you couldn't otherwise.



A new entity I've been working on is the pumpkin tentacle which has a long vine body that it can extend upwards and downwards while Erisia is riding it. This means it can be used to do platforming and reach higher places, with rhythms being how you go up and down. It basically works now, but I want to polish the animation a bit more before I show it off in action



The UFO and alien idea felt silly to me at first, but the more I entertained the idea the more I started liking it: aliens are definitely spooky creatures, and they also happen to be associated with anal probing and this is the butt part! The UFO is also similar to the floating island in the Jungle Forest in that it moves - the idea being that the UFO chases you around with its gravity beam and pulls you up into the ship in a certain area at some point, but also that it moves to a new area and acts as transportation. Along with it comes the UFO questline, which I have a rough outline of but I don't want to say too much yet :)

Of course given that this is a new region, I aim to bring new toys to the shopkeepers too - I haven't had the chance to work on any yet, but I do have some interesting ideas that I hope to show off in the coming weeks
