A few neat tidbits, One Piece as a series was actually inspired by a cartoon Oda watched as a child called Vicky the Viking, so vikings are actually very inherent to the One Piece concept. Secondly, a fun factoid is Oda is a massive fan of Japanese stage plays. Zoro's combat style is heavily based on the stageplay genre of chanbara, which is stage swordplay, that involves a lot of impact shots rather than full on sword combat, it's why all his major moves show him after the strike is made in a pose, chanbara is also where the strike, sheath then collapse trope originates from.

As a heads up you'll have to skip the next opening until episode 131 once it pops up

I'd say inflation of money from 100 years ago would be worth something different to todays standards in the world. Maybe like 5x more would be generous

Something to keep in mind for the Bounties, its not a direct measure of combat strength, a person with a 60 million bounty isnt necessarily going to be twice as strong as someone with a 30 million bounty, its more of a measure of how much money the government is willing to spend to eliminate them, (though strength plays a role), there are other factors that influence the number.

Mirza

Also bounties never get reduced, if a pirate becomes less of a threat it doesn't matter to the government, they only change the bounty to increase it, or eliminate it if they join the warlords.

Bounties are based on what the world government is willing to pay for them. It could mean that they are strong, that they know something they shouldn't, or that they are a threat in some other way. It is a decent way to power scale a character, without being stuck on actual physical power (like power levels). Maybe they are very organized, maybe they are a spy, etc. Crocodile the warlord was listed at 80,000,000 before he became a warlord. Your thinking that it's kind of low isn't a bad observation. It just means that Crocodiles becoming a Warlord, and having that bounty can be from different reasons than pure physical strength like Mihawk, the other Warlord we met. Though 80,000,000 is still a lot higher then Luffy/Arlong. The East Blue's bounties were all pretty close together in comparison. As for the giants, they were wanted 100 years ago, but I guess the government might still honor that bounty. What they did, isn't really explored.

Oh boy, it's Fem Luffy watching her own show again. Talk about vanity :D

When it comes to the Ogres' bounties, keep in mind that they were each 100 million berries a century ago. Adjusting for inflation, that's over 3 billion in modern-day berries. Source: trust me bro

Just some fun little worldbuilding on the side..... yeah, we'll go with that. :D

look i'm having a hard enough time calculating housing market trends in final fantasy 14, don't bring in economic Berri inflation like it's normal dinner conversation
