Props to you Alicia for not going “AMOGUS???” when the guard called Zuko an imposter. I was full on expecting it 😂👏

Korra is a pretty big tone shift at first and I ended up dropping it after season 1. After it finished though, I gave it another shot and ended up watching all of it in a weekend. I ended up enjoying it almost as much as ATLA once I actually gave it a fair chance.

Korra is good, not as good as ALTA but that is an impossible standard to live up too. They try something very different and has some great moments and characters.

I have a lot of criticisms of Korra, but I think about 99% of them can be traced back to Nickelodeon fucking about. First they only give the show a single season, so the writers wrap everything up. Then, when it does well, they give them another season...so the writers have to un-wrap their wrapped-up arcs. Then *that* does well enough that they're finally given two seasons. But then Nick fucked *that* up by yanking them off the air partway through, and putting them on streaming-only with no forewarning. If they'd just been given three seasons from the beginning, I'm confident that they could've had a much smoother story like ATLA. After the absolute masterpiece of ATLA, I don't get why networks weren't throwing money at the showrunners/writers/etc.

Because TV execs have for the longest time vastly underestimated the storytelling potential of animation, especially children's animation. And also have several wrong assumptions about what kinds of shows kids like to see. Most of all, have no interest in thinking about longevity and legacy when greenlighting kids shows. To an extent that last one is true of all TV, but especially animation and children's animation.

Sokka: "No...he's not here." Guard: "Hey you, get off the gondola!" (emotional music swells) (a look of awe dawns on on Sokka's face) (camera pans up to reveal the mysterious final prisoner) Prisoner: "THE BOULDER IS GOING TO BURY THIS WHOLE PLACE IN A ROCKALANCHE!"

i've watched and re-watched this series god knows how many times, i've never made the connection before that sokka did the same thing to sukhi that she did to him at the train station.

Alicia, I couldn't help but laugh a little when you momentarily lost your shit at hearing the warden's voice. For your sake, I hope you've had a chance to hear the one and only Corpse Husband. If not, you REALLY should in general, but it could also make for good content. I'd be happy to recommend some videos to watch if you'd like.

Heads up, legend of korra is ok... ish... but not nearly what the last airbender was.

Disciple Of Shaco

Wow, I’ve seen quite a few reactions to avatar but it never occurred to me that people would know the line “that’s rough buddy” without knowing this is where it came from. Such a classic line

I usually understand both sides of the argument but then I read your name and saw the pic...

It's writing doesn't place as much of an emphasis on emotionally-driven backstories and such, which it still does to great effect. But I personally loved how humorous the show was throughout, and the ending of hte series (no spoilers) was really damn cool imho.

The Force

My favorite part of Alicia reactions is her supernatural elf magic that causes her to ask questions that are about to be answered *in the episode* Even for shows that don't heavily foreshadow or hint at them like this one xD
